2Politicians tend to have what I like to call "Hal 9000 Syndrome" - they know the truth, but their jobs require concealing it. So sometimes it's hard for them to formulate spontaneous replies to questions.

3One has to think that this country is headed for a civil war

4Let me get this straight. You're saying that because Obama says um a lot while he's talking and Hillary doesn't that's a good indication of how good a president they'll make? Are you serious? Look back at what a good speaker Bill Clinton was and then tell me that you think he was a good president.
Liars and con artists can be very articulate and charming.

5If you are telling the whole truth, you don't have to pause to think about what to say, hence the um's and uh's.

6Actually lots of people say "uh" or "um" when they talk, or they say "like" or "I mean'. It is certainly not an indication that someone is not telling the truth.

7It's not about truth...it's about not knowing what the hell you're going to say,or where you are going with it...hence therefore...who needs a president who is unsure of his own ideas or even ideals

8Ah, the guy that can't manage to type a space after his punctuation again. Dude, wtf? You type a space after each word but never after a period or a comma. What's up with that?
Saying um when speaking has nothing to do with not knowing what to say next, it's a habit. Maybe if you start paying attention you'll notice that most of your friends probably say, "you know", "uh", "um", "like" or "I mean" when they talk because most everyone does.

12Well #10, the fact that your friends don't say um means nothing and frankly I think you're either full of shit or don't have many friends. There are some very intelligent people that say um a lot when they talk and it's because they are in some cases, shy, and in other cases because they tend to think so quickly that they lose track of the thought they're making at the time and stumble around.
I think John Stewart on the daily show is highly intelligent and articulate and most of his show is scripted, yet he still says um or uh quite a bit. I was listening to the Neal Boortz show the other day and noticed that he says um and uh occasionally.

13Okay, so commenter 11 is a chick and apparently the one that has a faulty computer or can't manage to type a space after a punctuation mark. I'm not sure that it makes any difference what sex you are but from now on I'll try to remember to refer to you in a non gender specific way.

15Your funny you think politicians speak for themselves. Obama says uh so much because he is trying to remember what his handler told him to say. The president isn't in charge, he works fr the people behind the curtain. That doesn't include the public.
