Ventibate in danger of being shut down
Tim Couch, a representative from Kentucky filed a bill this week to make anonymous Internet posting illegal. The proposed bill would require anyone that contributes to a website to register with their real name, address and email address. Their full name would appear anytime they posted or commented.If the bill becomes law (fat chance) the owner of any website that continued to allow anonymous posting would be fined $500 for the first offense and $1,000 for each additional offense.
The moron... sorry, I mean Representative Couch says he came up with the idea to cut down on cyber bullying which he says has been a real problem in his district in Eastern Kentucky. (And to think I didn't know anyone in Kentucky even had a computer.)
Representative Couch says that enforcing the bill if it did become law would be a challenge. (No shit, Sherlock.)

Yeah... pretty sure this is in direct contradiction with the constitution. The part about Free Speech.
If you're worried about internet bullying, then don't open yourself up to it in the first place. It's that fucking simple.

i'm wondering how that will do anything. I'll talk trash to someone i'll never meet. If anything this will be bad cuz the jack asses would be hunted down. Hell, i would most likely kill about 100 people i know that post shit on message boards.
And how is his place any more likely to get people pissed off. It isn't like the internet only lives in that area.

Actually, I found this post by accident when I Googled ventibate (My Favorites wouldn't bring it up). I'd love to get an update on this schmuck!!!
Listen - it's not so far-fetched - what he's trying to do!! After Bill HR6304 was passed by a vast majority of congress (near 75 fucking percent) on June 20 this year - ANYTHING ELSE is NOT out of the realm of possibility!!!
