Coworker is a really cute girl

I've gotten to know this really amazing girl at work over the last few days. She and I totally connect - we always have things to talk about, and she smiles whenever I see her. I'm thinking about taking her out for coffee, but there's that nagging voice in the back of my head telling me that a relationship with a coworker is a bad idea. All my friends tell me this.

So anyway. What are your opinions on relationships between coworkers? What are the pros and cons? What should I avoid? And please don't reply with something like: "Don't do it man, you'll hate her forever." Try and be a bit constructive.

lots of people think that they will find their significant other in the work place. honestly just keep it under wraps from other co-workers. it's best to keep work and play separate so the big thing i guess would be to keep it professional at work. but when it's time to play it's just like dating. and as i'm sure you know if things go south remember that you work with her and to keep that relationship professional it's gotta be a nice break up. just not dirty or unhealthy. (no break ups are nice hopefully you understand.)

I can't say I've had many good experiences in this category. Usually what happens is, we go out for a while, but someone else (at work) eventually comes along and spoils things, and I end up being jealous. And having to work with both parties every day makes it worse. On the other hand, when I DON'T ask them out I spend each day wondering if it could have worked. Just bad results either way. Only thing that's made my life better is keeping my interests outside of the workplace.

Its better to ask than to go, "Jeeze, I've been single for 10 years, where did all the time go?"

True, but it's a "venting" website. Venting doesn't always have to be in a negative context.

I agree that meeting a cute girl at work can be great, and successful. But also be prepared for the mess, if it doesn't work out well.
    Best of Luck!

Think this simple thing: If she wasn't your co-worker, would you still date her?. Moreover, could you wait until she changes her job and still try to date her?
