Pothead SHUT UP
I can't stand potheads who are so retarded as to not only believe the crap that comes out of their own mouths, but also the reinforcing opinions of their fellow potheads. Now, to be fair, there are like 7 decent, intelligent, well-spoken potheads out there, but I hate to confess that because now every pothead that reads this will think they're one of the seven. YOU'RE NOT!Your arguments about how "it's your body" and "in a truely free society, man, you should be able to do want you want with your own body" are idiotic. What you do with and to your body can affect other people, MAN! Your little hippy circles and musings on transcendentalism certainly aren't helpin' the GDP, instead they're at best flipping my burgers at Moo-N-Go and at worst sucking tax dollars out of the good working people of the US.
"Put cigarettes and alcohol are legal, dude. Pot's not any worse." Maybe so, but you know what, they're here to stay. We tried that whole 18th Amendment thing, and it didn't work. So how's about we keep all other addictive/damaging substances out of the mainstream.
"Hey dude, pot's not addictive." Oh really? How many joints did you role last week you hippy asshole!?
"Pardon me, my man, but hemp is very useful." Oh yeah, for those of you who need clothing that's even more uncomfortable than a burlap bag, hemp's a freakin' Godsend.
Your whole crusade against "the government" and "the big corporations" is a total load of crap. Your arguments about how "The Man" is just tryin' to keep you down, and how the government won't support pot because they wouldn't profit from it make me laugh. I'm not even going to give you the pleasure of rebutting your asinine comments.
You wanna smoke? FINE! Go role your blunt, camp out in front of Disney's "Bambie", and try to interpret the hidden Marxist message. Just don't try to tell me that you'd be trying to change the world with your "enlightened ways" if only "the man" hadn't made pot illegal. Because you'd still be sitting on your hemp pant-covered ass finding cloud shapes in your textured ceiling pattern.
Signed,
QKJ

Over one's mind and over one's body the individual is sovereign. The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient warrant.

Your quotation of John Stuart Mill, though appropriate, calls into question the damages of inaction resulting from influence on one's mind or one's body, which ultimately cause harm to others.
I think there is a great deal of merit in the argument that we must avoid cultivating a culture that often neither positivly, nor natively impacts society.
That is not to say that all those who enjoy marajuana fit this steriotype, and it does not identify the use of marajuana as the motivating factor for this behavior in all cases. Rather, it seems prudent to avoid the introduction or escaltion of use of marajuana that would most likely result from its legalization.
Those who enjoy marajuana will no doubt continue to find ways of obtaining it. Marajuana's status as an illegal drug simply restricts increased popularization of its use.

i'd like to know how "Joe" smoking pot hurts you QKJ. if it were to be legalized, just like alcohol 74 years ago, i'm positive it would still be subject to strict laws and high (pun intended) taxes. just because alcohol and cigarettes are currently legal doesn't make them OK. hundreds of thousands of people die from those legal substances every year; when was the last time you heard of a pot overdose? granted that one who chooses to smoke pot should do so cautiously as it does impair your mental ability - sound familiar? like drunk driving laws and the current movement to ban tobacco smoking? it's a weed. go worry about something more important.

Look, all I care about is that potheads (and when use term I mean people who seriously can't get through the week without weed) stop trying to rationalize themselves to me.
Your arguments are ridiculous, and I don't care to hear them. This isn't about whether or not pot should be legal, it's not legal! It's not like whining about the legality of pot amongst yourselves is going to change anything. If there was any genuinely good argument for the legalization of marijuana, then don't you think there would have been credible support for it in government? Oh, right there's the National Pot Party... there's a group that will be taken seriously.
