Salvia Divinorum IS the next marijuana.
"I got some hostile e-mails from people who sold these products," Strain said. "You don’t make everybody happy when you outlaw drugs. You save one child and it’s worth it."
and
"Salvia’s short-lasting effects and the fact that it is currently legal may make it seem more appealing to teens, lawmakers say. In the Delaware suicide, the boy’s mother told reporters that salvia made his mood darker but he justified its use by citing its legality. According to reports, the autopsy found no traces of the drug in his system, but the medical examiner listed it as a contributing cause."
So, ONE kid who had used salvia at some point in his past kills himself, and now salvia is a contributer to suicide?
WARNING PARENTS OF LITTLE ANGELS!: THERE IS AN EVIL PLANT, 100 TIMES STRONGER THAN MARIJUANA THAT IS INFILTRATING YOUR LITTLE CHILD’S FRAGILE EXISTENCE.
AND...
THEY WILL KILL THEMSELVES IF THEY SMOKE IT.
How many times has someone blown themselves up in the name of Mohammed?
How many times has some whacked parent killed their kids so that they could be with Jesus?
You think there will ever be a discussion about making Christianity or Islam illegal?
Of course not! Those are good things! Clean things! Evil, dirty, mind altering substances must be eradicated from this earth! The only "spirituality" that matters is available to all in a nicely packaged book already!
Anyway, back to salvia. As always, you’ve gotta go to one of those local TV networks to get the really good propaganda pieces. This whole article is a fucking hit piece.
"It’s intense. I don’t know how to compare it to anything. It kind of freaked me out," explains a user. "I guess maybe when I first got it I didn’t really believe in it. I was like, what, over the counter?"
And then many choice quotes from the evil, smoke shop running DRUG DEALER:
"Trippin’ awesome. I guarantee you’ll be back for it, once you use it," says a valley smoke shop owner.
"If I had to describe, it would be like THC, shrooms, whippets all together you know," is how that same shop owner earlier described Salvia.
And of course, gotta throw in the ole’:
This confident smoke shop owner’s location? Right in front of a local high school. And we found it prominently displayed in a store at a local mall.
This next little blurb also surely works wonders in the minds of an uniformed parent:
So why is it legal to sell something that causes people to see six arms? Something that alters your perception so dramatically you’re warned to have a sober sitter with you when you smoke it?
"It’s a warning for parents about a little known herb that’s being sold across the valley to teenagers. The herb is called Salvia and it can produce a dangerous high."
I, Viktor Wilt, proudly supply Salvia Divinorum to the public in the smokeshop that I manage. EVERY customer who inquires about salvia is thoroughly informed on safe use of the product, as well as HIGHLY encougared to read as much material regarding the product as possible before using it. YES, salvia is a VERY powerful substance. However, just because something can induce profound changes in consciousness DOES NOT mean that it is DANGEROUS, nor that it needs to be outlawed.
I have yet to, in 3 years of selling salvia, hear of a SINGLE bad situation that arose from salvia use by one of our customers, other than the fact that MOST people don’t enjoy the effects. Salvia is not the type of substance that has a potential for abuse. Unfortunately, since the media and the "experts" they interview have no personal experience with salvia, they have no understanding of how salvia works. When used properly, salvia is a very spiritual experience, it’s not something that you take when you’re partying with your friends. It’s a very interpersonal thing. The potentional for abuse would be eliminated the first time some group of people smoked salvia with the intention of getting a marijuana-like high. Salvia is not necessarily a pleasant experience, at least not in the same sense that smoking marijuana is. If you’re into self-introspection, a feeling of rebirth, and a greater understanding of your consciousness being fed to you in a very unconventional manner, then it could be something for you. Read "The Psychedelic Experience" by Timothy Leary, and you’ll understand the depths to which salvia can take you. It’s very unfortunate for those of us who have used salvia responsibly for many years, that due to fear inducing propaganda being spread by the media and the police, a very special part of nature may now be taking the same path that marijuana did. And truly, for what purpose?
I really think that the powers that be want to keep us glued to our TVs in a stupified state, without any care to learn anything about this world for ourselves. People drive irresponsibly, and harm others in the process, so are we supposed to ban automobiles because there are stupid people out there? Have you seen the movie "Grizzly Man"? Should we make grizzly bears illegal because that guy got his stupid ass consumed by one? Making drugs illegal doesn’t make drugs go away. I don’t even want to go into the bullshit behind the war on drugs and it’s pointlessness, as it’s covered every single day on DIGG. "The War on Drugs needs to end" is just about as tired of a subject as I can think of. Everyone knows it’s bullshit at this point, yet you still see the government shitting out bullshit "facts" at any chance they get to put fear into stupid people who can’t think for themselves.
And that is why salvia is going to be the next marijuana. Not in the sense that the media is trying to say it is, but rather in the sense that it is going to be taken away from us on bullshit, dishonest terms, by a government that feels the need to regulate every aspect of our lives.
So, when your state starts trying to push bullshit vice laws, STAND UP AND SAY NO! We don’t have to just sit by and watch as one more right is taken away from us.
You should NOT feel ashamed if you smoke salvia. You should NOT feel ashamed if you smoke marijuana. YOU ARE NOT A DIRTY, BAD PERSON, JUST BECAUSE THE TV SAYS YOU ARE. Be proud of yourself. Take a look in the mirror, and at everything you do. Do you consider yourself a bad person? Does smoking a little pot at home make you a dirty criminal? FUCK NO IT DOESN’T. Be proud! It’s socially acceptable to be a proud fan of Budweiser, so if weed’s your thing, and you’re a responsible user, fuck the media, fuck the law, be proud of it! There’s nothing wrong with smoking marijuana! If everyone in this country who smoked marijuana was open about it, I think change would start to occur at a much quicker rate.
You can’t be arrested for stating that you enjoy smoking marijuana. Sure, they can get you for intoxication (which is bullshit btw) if you say you JUST GOT DONE smoking marijuana. But, if you don’t have any on you, say that you enjoy it as much as you please. Put a big fat pot leaf on the back of your vehicle, and when you get pulled over, the interior of your car torn to shreds, and you’re sober and clean, ask the cop why he has to waste his time doing shit like that when he could be fighting real crime.
SHAKE UP THE SYSTEM PEOPLE. YOU HAVE A VOICE, THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR.
STAND!

3#2, this isn't fucking China however.

5continuing number 4, your life is over here as well. It's just that you are still physically living. That's the only difference.

6It's not China here YET; but give it a few more years, a lot of the money we're sending them via Wal-Mart is being used to buy up land and companies in the U. S. Pretty soon you'll be working for a Chinese company, eating food from Mexico and driving a Korean car. And your kids will be forced to learn Spanish and Chinese alongside English.

7Hey guys, "here" is the internet, not everybody is american here.

8Well, judging by this guy spending about a solid hour writing this bullshit about salvia, a bullshit plant that no one cares about, (except for this dillusional freak) he IS in America, or some other rich nation that allows free time to bullshit on the internet. In some other places they are too worried about where the next meal is coming from, or how they are going to come up with clean water.
You are so ignorant to be this concerned about some piece of shit plant.
With all of that energy, why don't you go out and contribute, instead of wasting all of this time on some crap that a teenager would obsess about.
you live in a place with plenty of oppurtunity to change your own community for the better, instead you sit there and complain about how you want to get high and pretend it's a spiritual experience.
And the comparison with religion is crap...
It may brainwash you, but it doesn't alter your conscious, sober state of mind. There have been many great people who belonged to a faith. Smart people. MLK is a good example.
Just smoke your little plant, and let the world pass you by... Don't worry about what other people think of it, or try to push that shit on anyone.
Fucking loser.

9"It may brainwash you, but it doesn't alter your conscious, sober state of mind."
Whatever, you might as well be completely fucked up out of your mind. Go to a baptist gathering and tell me that those people aren't glassy eyed and completely out of their fucking skulls.
If more people smoked marijuana that would do lots of good for the community.

10As soon as Marijuana is legal, I'll worry about your Salvia.
There have been many great people that smoked pot. Smart People. Pierre Berton is a good example.

13#8 you're right, we are lucky enough to live in a society where we don't have to worry about where our next meal comes from or if we're going to get gunned down by government sponsored militia. It also means we have the time to think and debate about issues other than survival. Can killing another person be moral, should you be allowed to do whatever you want to your own body, is it okay to stop someone from hurting themselves, should suicide be illegal. Just because you don't agree with his position doesn't mean he's wasting his time thinking about this and crafting a TRUTHFUL argument to influence others opinions. Don't be such a closed minded douche.

14Pierre Berton didn't smoke weed. It was a bit he did for the Rick Mercer show. It was really funny, though.

15#8, shut the fuck up you hypocritical douche. You can obviously spend an hour writing some stupid bullshit too.
" With all of that energy, why don't you go out and contribute, instead of wasting all of this time on some crap that a teenager would obsess about.
you live in a place with plenty of oppurtunity to change your own community for the better"
You apparently live in some rich country where you can spend all day fucking off on the internet like the rest of us. Here is an idea. Why don't you get off of your fat, hypocritical, dick-eating ass and do something good for YOUR community instead of putting somebody down for their beliefs.
You are a waste of skin. The world would be a better place without you. If for some reason you can't do humanity a favor and kill yourself...
I hope you die in a horrible chemical fire with a dirty dick in your ass. And you spelled opportunity wrong.
