Dear Boss
Ok, so i understand you don't want your employees fucking around while on the clock... But this is a CAMPUS JOB and we are all students. So if there is literally NOTHING to do, yes we will be reading some assignment, or horrors (!), on facebook. Yes, I know as a manager I'm supposed to send people home for being on facebook, but if no one we call picks up the phone for an hour, the least I can do for my callers is allow them a few minutes on facebook. Not one of my callers has gotten a bad report, not one! I have never ignored a question, not taken a concern, or even told a caller to hold on so I could finish something. Yes, occasionally I text my house mates. Yes, I did finish those three pages of that one chapter while no one was talking. But these are small, small sins compared to what we put up with from our callers. I've had callers come to work high, fall asleep on the phone, and even openly cuss you out, BUT this is apparently all acceptable as even after we tell you what they have been up to you continue to allow them to work. Clearly there is a problem here. I have 3 more weeks before I graduate... Can you give me a fucking break? Do you know I haven't even pursued a guy I really like because we have the office policy of no dating co-workers... Well seriously, I followed that shit because I understand how that could be an issue. But come on? 3 pages, is that really an issue? No one will die if I finish a reading assignment. And don't lecture me about working in the "real world". I work every summer at a high level office job and as long as I get my shit done and it's high quality work product NO ONE CARES! If I meet all my deadlines and even get things in before then, no one fucking cares if I take 10 minutes to check my email or if I talk to a co-worker for a few minutes. Can you seriously just get off my case? All your managers except one are graduating, please try to respect us enough that you respect our judgments. Since this won't be happening, I'm gonna fuck over the rat. She's not a good caller, and I'll be damned if I'm protecting her when she works. She'll be getting accurate ratings, which means her rating will SUCK! You had fun trying to cut us down to size because of one little rat, I hate rats. Now I'll ensure that little freshman rat gets fired and won't have a job next semester.

2I am a member of middle management myself, and I am completely tired of the exact same shit you are venting here. There are much more important things to running a business than nit-picking the bullshit details. Stop by in 4 years, and see how that little freshman rat is doing!

4It's funny that the lowest paying jobs offer the least freedom. I work in an office, too, and I can honestly do whatever I want as long as I get my work done. I used to work retail/customer service and they get on you about talking to someone for 30 seconds. It's ridiculous. It's like you are someone's property.
