Snoody Retailers
I am supposed to attend a military ball tonight, and I went to pick up my dress (for the second time). It was supposed to have been altered to let the bust line out. The dress was tighter this time than it was to begin with. It would have popped off the second I went to sit down to dinner. After returning it for the third time to be altered and being told that I couldn't get my money back for it, they actually had the nerve to charge me for the alterations they did to fix the mistakes they made the first time. When I refused to pay they refused to give me the dress. Now I'm out of $250 and a dress. The money is not important to me but I absolutely refuse to pay for something a third time that I was not satisfied with the first two times.Rating:4.50

There's more than one dress shop in town, right?

2What is a military ball? Are you celebrating the people who get paid to legally kill people with brown skin?

3Threaten them with small claims court. I got my camera fixed for free that way.

53 is right - show up with your lawyer. Or a guy pretending to be your lawyer.

6Oh get over it #'s 2 & 4. she's talking about a DRESS. Not the military. Maybe you wouldn't have attacked her if she had just said "I am supposed to attend a formal dance". You don't like the military, but you sure as hell like the freedom to make comments about them.

8She's not talking about the military! This is about retailers with a stick up their ass forgetting that the customer is always right!
I remember the good old days, when shopping was fun, the staff courteous and bargains weren't a myth.
Come back, nineties!

9Everyone who bitches about retailers have never worked in customer service. I am not your slave and for some reason you believe I am. The customer is more often than not never right. In fact if the customer was a little nicer instead of thinking that they can treat retail employees like a piece of shit they would more likely get their way more often than not. Just yesterday, I had a couple in my store and the man was a little hesitant about purchasing a very expensive pair of gloves, he was also purchasing several other pieces. I went to pull out a $25 gift card to comp him(we're allowed to do that for customers)and the woman said that's fucking ridiculous, you're making so much money off of me. And I thought no, Im not making anything off of you, you rude bitch. So I closed the drawer and did nothing for them but charge them full price. People need to learn to be a little nicer and keep their mouths shut. And for the people who think the squeeky wheel gets the grease and the louder you bitch the further you get, well, you may eventually get your way but I will make it as difficult as possible.

102, you have no idea what you're talking about. I have a military ball to attend as well with my 22 year old black boyfriend who has served two tours in Iraq while you have sat on your ass doing nothing that amounts to what he has done.
And you, venter why don't you try to take into consideration the time and effort they put in to making your dress? I'm sure if it was simple and not time consuming, you would have been able to do it yourself. Plus, if you are so dissatisfied, why did you continue to go to that place and act as if that was the only place on earth that alters dresses?

I used to work in retail, menswear to be exact, and it fucking sucked. I was never rude to a customer, no matter how much they may have deserved it, but I didn't let them get away with shit either. Do you have any idea how much people (women, mostly) can bitch about tie-prices?
The store used to include alterations in the price, but so many people bitched about it (those who didn't need or want their suit altered - or preferred to do it themselves) that we stopped. Then the others started bitching about it not being included anymore, so the store teamed up with a local tailor/cleaner so the customers could get a discount on alterations and cleaning. That seemed to make everybody relatively happy.
But I repeat: Never, not once, was I rude to a customer, I always admitted my mistakes - and I always gave the customer the benefit of the doubt. If the price tag says one thing and the egister another, you get the product for the lower price. Rule of thumb. The other day I went to a store, the kid (seriously, 15 at most) didn't know what a friggin' turnip was, so he punched in the code for zucchini, making me pay almost double. When I confronted him, the snotty little brat responded by telling me I should have told him what it was! Hello! You work here, I don't! Your fucking job is to know what the product is, you stupid little shit! How the hell do these stores stay in business?

That line is so fucking common it really isnt funny anymore. "he went to war while you sat on your ass, blah blah blah" Well you know, while dahmer and gacy were killing people, I was not. Nobody looked down their damn noses at me for that

13I know #'s 9 and 12, I worked at an amusement park last summer doing ride photos. We ran out of photo frames. People were understandably upset. We had several people ask politely if they could get a discount. That's fine, more than fair. Then there were the other people. One guy verbally abused my supervisor and me until she finally gave him his order for free. He then proceeded to add to his now free order and then waited for me after work and followed me through the now empty park until a security guard made him stop.
If you have never worked in retail, just shut up about what bitches we all are. It is hard. People are rude and inappropriate. People will touch you, follow you and curse you and there isn't much you can do about it. I think that allows me to be cranky every once in a while.

14I agree. I went to get a pair of pants hemmed for a christmas party, the people were nothing but rude to me. People who work in retail are paid to be nice and there are far too many that can't be nice, even when they're paid.
