Honkies and Niggers

Personally, I find the two terms equally offensive. Racism in either direction is wrong.

And you, my friend, are just as racist as the people you resent. You resent me because of what my ancestors did to yours, and that pisses me off. I CAN'T HELP WHAT HAPPENED CENTURIES BEFORE I WAS BORN. And you resent me for believing that people who have shitty lives and shitty values and happen to share your skin color are utter garbage. I think they're lowlifes for the way they live, not for being black. And don't give me shit about how blacks are still held behind. I believe that it happens, but not as often as you want me to believe. Stop being such a %#&*ing VICTIM!!! If people work hard enough in school and get scholarships for college then they can go anywhere. Don't tell me it's too hard--my own mother has been cracking a whip at my ass for me to get scholarships since I was in elementary school.

And then when the word "honky" was asked to be defined, you were SO THRILLED to be able to yell out "A WHITE PERSON!"

I'm sick of it. Sick of being your friend, sick of associating with you, and sick of putting up with your damn persecution complex. Especially when you're being such a damn hypocrite.

And in case you didn't know, white teenagers these days WISH they were black. Haven't you heard the most popular 40 in the past few years? Open your damn eyes.

The only white teenagers who "wish they were black" are the ones who have been brainwashed by the music companies and the media. I hate wiggers with a passion; they are an insult to whites AND blacks alike.

#1: You suck. Seriously. He clearly doesn't hate people that aren't white, as he says it in his post, genius.

This is a good post, by the way. These kinds of people piss me off.

#1 should refrain from saying "ain't". It makes you sound like an idiot and makes me no longer take whatever point you were attempting to make seriously. I also find it ironic that you punctuate "aint"

And 7, it's honky, cracker, and any other term that blacks come up with to make us sound like losers for being white, when they would be so indignant about us calling them niggers--even though that's what they call each other.

I'm sure Dr. King would be proud.

Nigger is a hurtful word invented by whites to demean black people. It was used to dehumanize blacks. When a white man or woman uses this word it is always in a negative sense, because of the historical context. Black people didn't always have names. They had one of two names. Boy and Nigger. Before the civil rights era, if you were black, your name wasn't important. You were just a nigger. If you are white, keep that word out of your mouth, even though we know that you all say it in the privacy of your living rooms.
Blacks can call each other nigga all they want. It's not the same context. And context IS important. The feeling is, look, "you are going to call us niggers? Well fuck you motherfucker. We are niggers then. I am a nigga, all the people I love are niggas. " Throw it around until it belongs to US. It's ours now. You can't use it to demean us. We own the word. We use it however we want. We call our friends nigga. You can't be a nigga.

On the other hand, cracker and honky are like pet names. What harm could ever come from cute little names like these? These are not hurtful, and they come from no historical context. These words weren't used for black men to feel superior to whites, and blacks weren't whipping whites and raping their daughters, all while calling them "honky". Never happened, so I don't see how this could hurt anyone.
Quit acting so ignorant and take the fucking wool off your eyes #7.

#10, I have never called a black person "nigger." And when a -select few- of my white friends have, even just joking around, I have told them not to use that word. It is wrong for us, and it is wrong for you.

As I understand from what you've said, blacks calling each other niggers or "nigga" is okay because it doesn't mean the same thing as when whites say it.

    Bullshit.

It's terrible either way, and frankly I think it's moronic. Black people calling each other nigga, and the black community says "YAY, we're NIGGAS!!! Fuck you whites cuz we NIGGAS!" What the hell? That's exactly what you hate us for but you do the same thing to each other. It would be exactly like someone calling me a retard, and me turning around and saying "YAY, I'M A RETARD!!!!" Then my friends and I proceed to call each other retards, for absolutely no good reason. Idiocy, I say.

Don't give me shit about "owning" nigger. Have some self-respect and do away with the word completely.

And "honky" and "cracker" DO come from a feeling of superiority. They are used as the equivalent of "loser" for white people. Damn it, just because you're white doesn't mean you're a loser!!!

The term "cracker" comes from the owners of the slaves, the ones that would ride the horses through the field and "crack" the whips. This is absolutely historical context, and I'm sure it's something most white people would like to forget about. I didn't whip your grampa, and I don't appreciate being looked at like I did simply because you need an excuse to not do as well as me.

I wasn't aware of the historical context of cracker, so thank you for that. I have witnessed incidents in which white people (such as a certain family member) did not perform as well as the black stereotype and were labeled as a cracker, which is where my feelings for the word(s) come from. And no one in this time is to blame for slavery or practices it included, so your last statement goes the other way around as well. Also maybe some people would like to forget about what happened, but I don't think that's the answer. We need to remember, but not resent each other for something like that because it's history, something we as individuals or a generation can't be blamed for. I'm aware that acts of racism are alive today. I wish it weren't so, and the same goes for the resentment of people for what generations over a century ago did.

I don't even like reading the N-word, but Honky doesn't bother me in the least and I am a white person. But that N-word.... I don't like it. And, instead of using N-word. I have switched it to Henry (named after my friends' black cat) Its not offensive and me and my friends know what it is... Hey, Henry! See, its nice and refreshing.

There is nothing offensive about the word honky or cracker. I live in the south and white people that were born here call themselves crackers and as was pointed out in another comment, honky is even used in songs written by white rednecks as in honky tonk heroes.

On the other hand, I find the N word offensive even when black people call each other that.
