Your kid isn't gifted. He's not even really that smart. He's a whiny, spoiled boy. There is a big difference. Get off your ass and discipline the kid instead of going out to the bookstores to buy more books on how to raise a gifted child.And quit critisizing every damn thing I do. It's getting old. All of your friends are annoyed as shit at you.

1You don't know that, that child could be extremely intellegent. And spoiled is relative. I consider spoiled as a person who doesn't appreciate what he or she has and who look down on people who have less. But another person might see a spoiled person as someone who gets a lot of things and pretty much whatever they want. By that definition, I'm pretty spoiled. Stop whining.
Children are a huge part of a parent's life. So don't knock someone who is proud of their kids.

2False pride is never healthy. And kid's shouldn't have their egos fed on a daily basis. Granted, they should be complimented for good deeds and milestones, but not taken out for ice cream because they flushed all by themselves. That's a big part of America's problem today, we do far too much promotion of mediocrity.

3I'm going to have to agree that our celebration of mediocrity is unhelpful. It gets old.
But hey, are you qualified to examine the intelligence of the child? Are you a parenting coach or a developmental psychologist? No? Then let it go. Focus on your own children and their well being, and let the folly of others slip between your fingers. Its not your responsibility, its not hurting you. Get over it.

4As the parent of an autistic kid, I have to say that there are smart, tolerant people and then there are rude ones who don't understand and don't care. That's not to say that there aren't some kids out there who need some quick correction, either.

5I totoally undestand. i am a nanny. i look after this kid, his parents think that he iis gods gift to the world. he isnt. he is a brat and needs a good clip around the ears. when he is asleep at night i whisper about how much i hate him. The sad thing is really that his little sister is so sweet cute and intelligent and the parents flick her off on me whenever they can :(
