Religious Bumfucks

I believe that most religion is a cult. Just because the Westboro Baptist Church may not be as large as the Church of Scientology, I think they are doing the same amount of damage. Part of me hopes that one of Shirley Phelps-Roper's children is gay, but then again, they might kill themselves. Which I think is really sad. I am an athiest, but if/when I have children, they can be whatever they want to be. But I will also educate about the churches or "organizations" that I strongly disagree with.

I am an atheist too but I still teach my children about religion and differences between them and both the good and bad things about them. I don't expect them to be able to decide at 6 and 10 but I'm also not going to brainwash them in any direction, either for or against any particular religion. One day they will make their own choice and that's all I can hope for.

Letting them think for themselves is best....

Don't sit there and tell them negative or positive things about religion, and if they ask questions, make sure you know the basis for all of them and portray them in an unbiased way.. That would be the only way for you to enable them to make their own decisions. Sitting there and telling them that religion is bad and this and that won't help them make their OWN decision about it.

Will people please stop referring to scientology as a church and a religion? It is a cult. Thank you.

I don't think this person was actually refering to Scientology as a church, its that it's actually called the "Church of Scientology".

There's a book called "Why God Doesn't Believe in Atheists." It was actually written by a former atheist. You all might find it interesting. It was a great book.
