Indian Customer Service

Why is it that every time there is a problem with something you call in go through the damned automated receptionist robot and eventually end up talking to someone in New Dehli speaking some strange hybrid of British English, American English and Hindustani? They are generally very polite and do not mind repeating themselves countless times and almost always call you Mr. (first name). They usually have names like Joseph or Margaret (right). Usually after several minutes of trying to figure out what the hell they are saying you end up taking down a confirmation number after 27 repetitions and then this is followed by a bulldogging of an upsell to another product offered by the company. Typically after about an hour of this you are relieved to finally hang up the phone.

I wonder if the major US companies that do all of this offshore outsourcing consider that it takes far longer for these cheaper employees to get the same job done and the customers that they piss off by putting them through the rigamaro...

This pisses me off too. I agree that they are usually polite and I'm sure they put up with a ton of abuse, but it takes way more time for me to deal with them than it would if English was their first language.

Yeah, I had to get tech support from this girl who got kinda pissy whenever I asked her to repeat what she was saying. I had to do this frequently, because of her thick accent, and she probably has to repeat things all day to customers who don't understand her. They should do us both a favor and get me an english speaking helper and her a different job. We'd all be happier.

I would call and call on one issue, and then I figured, I would call the sales office in Texas. An English speaking woman solved my problem in ten minutes.

Companies outsources tech and customer support because it's cheaper to hire someone in India vs. an American. The only way to stop it is to boycott companies that do this. Good luck.

It's annoying that corporations see money more important than customer service. I cannot stand talking to Indians when I need help with something, No I do not hate them at all but they most likely have no idea on what i'm talking about
