4Sorry but I don't agree with the first 2 commenters. He supposedly said when his daughter says she wants to smoke pot he'll sell it to her and you don't think he should give up? So it's better to have a father that will turn you into a drug addict and will probably end up in jail again and not be around anyway than to be raised by a foster parent or relative that actually cares about her?

6amen to # 5, and i think having their child unavailable to them is sometimes what a fucked up parent needs in order to get their shit together. and when they're fit to be a parent, they should THEN be allowed to have an influence over their child. because that's such a crucial time for a kid, when they're developing their ideas about how to love and support and BE in the world, if some irresponsible sperm or egg donor assumes the right to parent them even though they can't be responsible enough to take care of themselves, that can do serious damage.
