Admin Professionals Day
To my employees:Even though you haven't said anything, I know you're upset because I didn't do anything for the bullshit holiday known as "Administrative Professionals Day" (AKA Secretarys Day). Guess what? I didn't get so much as a card or a thank you on the bullshit holiday of "Boss' Day", so I'm returning the favor.
Don't expect me to take you all to lunch and spend a couple hundred bucks when you couldn't even be bothered to split the cost of a $3 card.

1Ha, score one for the guy who makes 3 times their salary. Shit, they don't live for your beck and call at all. I'm against tipping for shitty waiters, the valet, etc. but if someone does a good job for you and probably does stuff you should be doing yourself, then say thank you in the form of some flowers or a dinner. Next time you may not get an important call. Ass. Bosses Day, bullshit. When was the last time someone in charge didn't get credit for the things they did?

2^wow, you are an idiot. If you are intelligent and harworking, you become your own person, not an "administrative professional". Secretarys day is like the little league games where no one is allowed to lose. Fuck all that

3^Wow, because everyone who is intelligent and hardworking starts out as a high powered executive. There's no one who had to take a position because they didn't pass the "experience requirement" that took an admin assistant position because they wanted to gain some resume experience. It's pricks like you who think everyone is there to serve you that make the job so awful. Please, next time your bonus exceeds ten thousand dollars, don't remember all the people that helped you.

4To poster #2, also don't use your 'intelligence' and 'hard work' to write out a grammatically correct post. Pressing the shift button is just too time consuming. And if you're going to compare admin's day to little league, secretaries are the parents who make sure their kid makes it to practice and works their kids 'busy' schedule to the coach's wishes.

5#3 Nobody becomes a secretary to move up to an executive position. You take a lower level position involved within the firm's business area, not a job answering the phones. No one becomes a CEO because he sound real pretty when he says hello
#4 shut the fuck up about the grammar. ill hit the shift key- or the fucking apostrophy key- whenever im damn good and ready. you sound like a secretary to be bitching about my typing. why dont you come over here and type my next post for my. and while you are at it, ill give you a raise if you give me a hummer

6So you couldn't spend $3 on a card for your assistant? Probably didn't last year either?
That's why no one gave a shit on Boss's Day.

7Yeah you're probably a shitty boss. No wonder they didn't do anything for you for Boss day. And they felt they deserved something on Admin day for putting up with a shitty boss. Duh! Basically you don't know the extent of your shittiness.... don't feel bad. Most shitty bosses have no idea.

8You think your employees should thank you? Sorry but you need to learn what being a boss is all about. If you want your workers to work harder and do a good job, you reward them, even if it's only with a "job well done" but not handing out a few cards or some flowers just because they didn't tell your what a great boss you are is childish.

9Dear Boss:
Seeing as we do our work, plus most of your work, make 5x less than you, never complain and haven't heard so much as a "Thank You" or "You're appreciated", I'm not sure why we would do anything for you on "Boss's Day".
Respectfully (As Always)
P. S. The word "boss" implies some sort of leadership... perhaps if you'd like things to change, you should take some initiative.

10^I agree. Though this applies to a previous boss of mine.

You are a fucking moron. It is obvious that you are a bitch ass assistant. How can it even begin to make sense to say that youu do most of his work, make five times less and never complain. It does not work for you to claim that you never complain WHILE YOU ARE COMPLAINING This is indicitave of the level of intelligence of your average office assistant

12Well #9,
I suppose I can see where you got the idea I was an office assistant from the letter I wrote. I'm thinking "bitch ass assistant" is more a matter of opinion though.
The letter was hypothetical, obviously. It was written in the form of a letter from one of his/her employees.
Actually, I am a boss (which I'm sure you will say "this is the internet, you're lying", but that's okay). However, at one time I was an office assistant, yes. Therefore, I can remember how it feels to feel like you aren't appreciated. Which is why when I did become a boss, I extended the same courtesy to the people under me as the ones above me.
I'm not sure why you said "How can it even begin to make sense to say that you do most of his work, make five times less and never complain." Is it too difficult for you to understand some people work to their best ability no matter the position? In the business world, if you do as you are asked without complaining- every now and then going above and beyond- you will get ahead.
I suppose it would be easy to take advantage of being in a position of power, but at what cost? As long as everyone does their job, there's no reason to make someone else's life more miserable.
Also- keep in mind- if I don't like the work one of my employees is doing, I can fire them. It doesn't work in reverse. If the OP doesn't like his/her assistants, she should either fire them or, as previously stated, take initiative to change things. That's his/her job as "boss".

13While I can understand the OP's frustration, I do agree that it is a childish way to look at it. I am also a manager, and I didn't get anything for Boss' day either, even after I took my department to lunch earlier last year for Administrative Professionals Day. It didn't bother me, because I didn't do anything for my boss on Boss' day either.
I would like to clear up some misconceptions, however, that have been posted in replies to this thread. First off, your boss may very well not make "3x" or "5x" your salary. I don't even make twice what my lowest paid employee makes, and I only make about 2 grand more than my highest paid employee. Your bosses may make a lot less than what you think.
Also, I can't speak for the OP, but I do all my own work. My employees have their own jobs to do, so I don't burden them with things I can do myself. I type my own letters, open my own mail, etc etc etc. I also thank my employees on a regular basis. They're good people doing good work, and they need to be recognized.
It seems to me that some people on here are projecting their dislike of their own boss on the OP. I don't know if he/she is a good boss, but from what was posted you also can't prove that he/she is a bad one. The OP is just posting their feelings. Somehow I doubt that the OP told their employees that they weren't getting anything because he/she didn't get anything. If the OP did, however, then I'm right behind you in condemning his/her actions.
Just something to think about.

14#5, i have to disagree. our previous ceo started out in the mailroom. he worked for 30 years, and kept getting promoted. eventually he became the ceo, and turned us back into a profitable company. no, he wasnt a secretary, but working in the mailroom is equal to that.

15this is #14 again. i should add that the ceo i was talking about is now the ceo of the company that OWNS our company. hard work and dedication do pay off, he's living proof.
