Streetwise...
i'm from england, but i've lived abroad all my life. where i live, you're perfectly safe as a teenage girl walking by yourself at night anywhere in the city.but... all i ever hear from england is stuff about muggings, or rapes, or murders, and everyone is told to not advertise the fact that they have valuables with them etc. here i can walk along with my phone, ipod, wallet all in my hand and not have any worries.
what's wrong with some countries these days?! what's happened to security? respect? safety?

That's because you only ever hear bad news.
Although I don't live in a city...

4Only thing that happened to me in London was some d-bag tried to grab my purse as I went through the turnstiles to enter the Tube. Luckily I hold my purse defensively and the woman ended up grabbing me and my purse, where I proceeded to call over the guard and get her arrested. I dunno what happened from there but my point is, London (at least) isn't that insanely dangerous.

Bad rap only gave whiny teens the idiocy with which to be disrespectful to their elders. It didn't give them the balls to do anything. Danger anywhere comes from those who think themself righteous or worthy.

6cities aren't all that dangerous. you just can't be stupid about it.. like walking by yourself at 1-3am in an un-lit alleyway. ya know? just don't be dumb and don't listen to the news on the television.

7There's just certain areas in cities you learn to avoid. And also your body language can make you more or less of a target to muggers/rapists etc.
Crime is going up and getting worse, but it's not just confined to England.
