Dumb Townie Bitch
So generally I am totally ok with townies sneaking into our university library and allowing their children to cause problems and using the internet to look at porn, pyramid scams, and read Fox News, but today I almost had to slap a townie. Our university's library is open to anyone as long as that person pays $17 for a library card, but of course, since we go to school in a super depressed area, the townies just sneak in. I never cared until I got slapped twice on the arm and shushed on the group project level. Our library has a rule - odd numbered floors are talking floors and even numbered floors are silent floors. So technically if you want to talk occasionally you want to go to floors 1 and 3 and if you want silence you got to floors 2 or 4. There are computers on all floors.Now for the rant: I am using a computer to check email and generally waste time til my friend gets out of an exam and calls me to go to dinner. She calls me, I am on a talking floor so I answer. I spend 57 seconds (according to my cell phone) on the phone, during which the townie sitting next to me decided I was interrupting her search for the perfect fashion in the Cosmo and Redbook websites. She slaps me twice on the arm immediately after I answer my phone, causing me to turn and look at her. At which point she physically grabs my phone away from my face, shushes me, and tries to propel me out of the library and away from my (hard-won) computer. I finish my call quickly and then ask her what her deal is. Apparently, to her, it is rude to take a phone call on a talking floor (someone taking a phone call on a talking floor occurs almost every 10 minutes) but slapping someone, pulling on their phone, and shushing is polite. I informed her that there are silent floors upstairs and tried to return to my email. She then started another fight, this time with two people working on a project. What I don't get is why she thought she was the library police. I understand in a normal library being on a phone would be rude, but it is an accepted practice in our library and if she spent the $17 instead of sneaking in the librarians would have told her that. As it was she got banned (because I went and complained) but since she never even had a library card to begin with I don't know how the ban will help.
Damn townies and their damn holier-than-thou attitudes!

2I take it you never saw the movie "Breaking Away", #1. A townie is someone from the town a university is located in that doesn't go to that university.

4your should have freaked out on her, then verbally abused her by pointing out the fact that she was probably an ignorant redneck that was either to stupid to go to college or to ignorant to go in the first place. i wouldnt have stopped unitl i saw tears running down her face!!
