Bitchy bosses

ok... so i'm a 2 hour drive away from home and work, and my car breaks down (turned out to be the starter...) so i had to call work and call out. my boss says she needs me there, i say sorry but i have no way home! she says either your job is important or not! then when i say that there is no way to get there, she says to get there AS SOON AS I CAN and then hangs up on me! WTF????? what did she want me to do? transport, fly, walk? i'm not a miracle worker! its not my fault i was stuck 2 hours away! i had to take a test for school! i planned on being at work on time but shit happens, it can't be helped! i'm just glad i didnt get fired, well at least not yet...

Just try to be reliable the rest of the time and maybe she will understand that it was an isolated incident. Companies sometimes take hard-ass approaches because they get certain employees that are always making excuses for poor attendance.

I feel for you. Your boss shows no concern for your well-being. It's not behaving professionally if a boss adds undue stress to a situation out of the employee's control.

I used to have a similiar boss. She used threats and guilt trips to scare her employees into obediance. I will never work for someone like that again. I hope you won't either.
