Sneaking around
my bf and i have to sneak around ... Well, mostly me... to see each other. i live in canada. him in the states. long story short: my parents don't approve of him ... i'm 20, he's older than me. he comes to see me 3 times a month. except now he wants me to visit him too and he wants to pay for my flights down on weekends.. that way we can see each other every weekend. i feel guilty because i'd have to talk to them and lie about how i'm home for the night blah blah (i live away from home .. University) so... now that i've said all of this ... i don't feel better yet. so... moreover, i love him... and i'm not talking young silly love. we're pretty realistic and we know that when it comes down to it... it's my choice between my family and him. there. that's the problem. i love them both dearly but i'm tired, so very tired of fighting for him... i want my family too... i'm tired of being guilty because i lie to them about being with him.this sounds horrible but sometimes i feel like i should end it and just enjoy my family while i'm young. but i can't, i care for him way too much.

how old are you? If you are living away from home and are eighteen, you shouldn't have to sneak and hide! If he wants to pay for the expensive flights, then he should.

If your family has your happiness in mind then they will step aside and let you be with the person who makes you happiest. Tell them how much you both care for each other, if thy really want you to be happy they will understand.

A speaker I once heard addressed an issue pretty close to this. He said that if you really know that he's the person you want to keep in your life, then go for him. Your family will have to come around to it eventually, and if they don't, then at least he'll be there to support you for it. However, if you doubt your future with him in the slightest, hold on to your family. The tricky thing is, you're a student, not a thirty-something year-old where the choice is pretty evident.
