To All Those Who Hate Religion
It seems that every time I click on the religious category on ventibate, there is another person ranting and raving about how much they hate religion. This seems kind of pointless. Why do you hate? Other people's beliefs should not concern you. Sure, if someone's knocking on your door telling you to convert, you should be angry. But why all the animosity? Is it just me or is this attitude common among people who do not embrace some sort of faith? It seems like people are either all about religion or they absolutely hate it. The ones that are neutral tend to not say anything. It's funny, maybe they are the ones who really know what's going on...Rating:1.00

Speaking strictly for myself, I don't hate religion or religious zealots just because of religion. I do however hate the zealots that use their religion to commit atrocities like the Muslim terrorists or the so-called Christians that killed each other in Ireland because they were either protestants or Catholics. That has got to be the height of hypocrosy right there. Killing people because they aren't of your faith is bad enough, but killing people that are of your general faith because they aren't of your half of the faith is unbelievable.
I have no problem with religious people as long as they don't jam it down other people's throats, or try to force me to live by their rules.

Exactly.
Let them live their own empty delusional lives, but keep me the hell out of it.

Hmm, I think I recognize the tone of the above post as that belonging to the individual responsible for that zealot-esque "Down With Religion" rant, though I could be wrong.
If so, I would point out your strange habit of getting yourself involved in religious venting/debate when you claim to be so disinterested in religion. If indeed you wish to be left out of our "empty delusional lives" then I suggest you stop including yourself in our empty delusional discussions.

He said he wants to be left out of their empty delusional lives, not out of discussions about their empty delusional lives.

Ah, don't we all enjoy a discussion about the one segment of life which attempts to answer that infernal question "what is the meaning of life?".

Sorry, I want to clarify, my first post was directed toward the poster who replied directly above me.
I almost entirely agree with the author of this post.

Religion is nothing more than a tool to control the weak minded... bunch of fucking sheep! Believe in yourself, not some "all knowing/allseeing" sentient being bullshit. If there IS a "God", show me something, fucker!

I'm an atheist, but I don't think religious people are bad - I really don't care one way or the other. It's only when religious people (or secular people!) try to infringe on my rights that I get angry.
But, yeah, it pisses me off when people go into misspelled rants about religion. It's one thing to say that you don't like it when religious people come to your door and try to convert you, but another thing to say that people believing in God pisses you off.

I would like to say that if religious people didn't force their nonsense down my throat I wouldn't mind, but the fact is that in a Western society we're confronted with Christianity every day. I understand that some people find it important to have some sort of faith, and therefore making up something to believe in may be important to them, but I think that at the moment in America and my own country Australia, we're being choked with religious propaganda to validate this outrageous Iraq campaign lead by some warmongering halfwit

I'd like to hear your fucking life philsophy. It's okay if 95% of this country lives, works, and votes via beliefs that are not based on anything they've ever actually experienced, and around the world people are fighting wars inspired by it, but you don't care if they believe it... as long as they don't talk to you about it?

"Other people's beliefs should not concern you."
Yes they should, this is a democracy, other people's beliefs make up the law. The only way other people's religious beliefs shouldn't concern me is if there was some sort of guarantee that laws couldn't be made respecting religion, or an establishment there of, a wall of separation between church and state if you will.
