Religion
Religion is just stupid. Science has proven how life was created and how we exist but dumb people try to believe and attempt to find a reason to exist while looking for something to clutch onto before they die. Face facts people - there is no God and our religions are just a superiority complex bent on power and killing those who don't believe as we do. Christian, Muslim, Judaism - waste of time.Rating:5.00

Although I'm not religious, science hasn't proven anything. You do realize they call it the Big Bang Theory because it's just a theory, right? And no one knows for a fact how life was created on this planet anymore than the know where the planet came from in the first place. Not you, not the scientists, not me, not the Pope, not the Dahli Lama, no one.

"Theory" is a scientific label that a lot of uneducated people equate with "guess." What it means is, a tentative explanation for something, which other scientists can then in turn attempt to replicate or refute using experimentation, logic and/or proof. Sure, there will never be 100% documented evidence as to how this universe evolved, but the postulates that have been laid out are intended to show the MOST LIKELY facts based on what has been shown to be possible. In science, almost everything is a "theory" but that does not mean it's likely to be WRONG - after all, gravitation is a theory also but so far no religion has come out against that one.
#1 has a good question, and most laymen do wonder that. One thing theoretical physics has suggested is that there is no "beginning" or "end" because time only has meaning when applied to objects and movement. It's hard to get one's head around, I know.

^ forgot to add, religion DOES have a purpose. For different people it is different things. I say believe what you want and do what you want, to help you through your day, as long as you don't hurt others in the process.

I agree with you #6 and would add as long as you don't attempt to force anyone to believe the way you do. This goes for atheists too. The real danger in religion is when zealots try to make everyone follow their rules and beliefs, especially when they try to pass laws to do so.

Science is a way to explain how the world was made for those of us who get creeped out of religious people due to the fact that said religious people harped on about saving one's soul and threw religious pamphlets at one while following and screaming at one to accept Jesus into one's heart.
I don't believe in science either.

^ I'm with you. And I'll buy one for Einstein, Bohr, Planck and Schroedinger too. And a couple of shots for Jesus, too; he could probably use one after being fucked over by one bunch of people and misunderstood by most of the others. Plus his own father was such as sadist. Talk about child abuse.

How do you know that God didn't create evolution. For someone who believes in science you are forgetting the one golden rule, nothing is set in stone and religion is an untouchable subject because you can't test faith.

In all honesty, supposing of course there is a God, all of the religions around the world are still human interpretations of that God and that God's teaching.
So who is to say that all of our interpretations aren't horribly wrong?
I certainly won't knock anyone for believing in a higher power, but belief has all too often been accompanied by abuse towards other people.
We kill and burn our own, professing that they are unclean and impure, infidels and pagans, that they are not worth life.
Yet... wouldn't faith state that these people are also God's children?
Every time we hurt someone, its an epic failure of religious doctrine, and we do it all the time.

I can't believe some posters here actually seriously consider religion a legitimate topic. Humanity has a long way to go sadly.
