Mental Illness

I get so tired about hearing about how the mentally ill are crazies and dangerous. If I have to hear my mother bitch one more time about how it's not safe for my dad to take me to grandma's because she's schizophrenic, I'll scream. She's afriad grandma will hurt me. Grandma's eighty years old and wheelchair bound. She's never raised a hand to me, even during an episode. And if she ever did... I could probably outrun her. If not, there are stairs.

Most of the mentally ill are only a danger to themselves, largely due to the stigma assosiated with the disorder. Come on! Depression, bi-polar, schizophrenia are just treatable conditions like athsma or a broken bone. Most mentally ill who seek help recover to live full lives.

Get out of the dark ages and care about people instead of tearing them down!

Im right there with you that we shouldnt fear crazy people. but fuck caring for them. Crazy people are easily manipulated, and therefore can be used for your amusement, and should be at every given opportunity

GO SEE HER!!! My best friend's dad had schizophrenia and her mother threatened to pull funding for college and her half of our apartment if my friend ever saw him. He died almost a year ago and hadn't seen his daughter since she was 5 (she was 22 when he died). Ironically, since he was medicated and functioning, he had the money to leave her a nice chunk of change in his will. Now, she could afford to tell her mother to fuck off, but he's dead. Go see your grandmom before you lose her forever. My friend regrets not seeing her dad every day - don't let that become you!
