Smoking

I'm 18 and I've been a smoker for a couple of years now. The reason why I do it is not because I was influenced by "Big Tobacco," or I wasn't "raised right." I do it because I like the feeling I get from smoking and it helps me deal with my stress and depression issues.

Yes, I know it can kill me but ultimately it's MY life to lose, not yours. If I get lung cancer and die, then what do you care? Besides, we've all gotta take the big dirt nap sometime and I'd rather do it when I'm 60 then 90.

Oh, and for all you people up on your pedestals telling me how bad it is for me and that I should stop, take a look at your own life. You probably are addicted to something unhealthy as well, like food, alcohol, or even money. The fact is, you've been brainwashed by organizations like D. A. R. E. and the Ydouthink.com people to believe that smokers/smoking is evil, helping you to point your fingers at us and call us the "bad guys," thus rationalizing away all of your own short-comings and bad habits.

My point is, if you can't stand cigarette/cigar smoke and someone is doing it near you, go ahead and ask him/her to stop (99% of the time, they will) but don't go out of your way to tell us smokers that what we're doing is bad, we've heard it all before and neither your judgmental ass nor your propaganda is going to matter to us.

whew.... I need a cigarette.... Lol

You don't just drop dead early from smoking. The last 10 years before you drop dead early will be spent wheezing and coughing up shit 24/7. Emphysema's a bitch. Otherwise, good luck with your smoking career.

Actually, we do care, and not for the reasons you've proposed. In all likelihood, it is our obligatory contributions to social security taxes and medicare that will aid you in paying for your eventual care. The last ten miserable years of your life will be made possible, more than likely, by the American taxpayer. Better start thanking us now.

Um how bout this, smoking just makes u age early... no one wants that, that alone should make anyone try to quit. There are also more HEALTHY ways to rid your self of stress just use your imagination!

I asked my friend why he smoked, and he said "Because it makes me happy", and from then I never tried to persuade you to stop. Live and let live.

But yeah, you're not just going to drop dead at 60. Your later life may be spent coughing and wheezing, just walking a few feet will make you breathless. Good luck with that.

People should start encouraging smokers to keep smoking and non-smokers to start. a pack of cigarettes lately cost anywhere from $5. 50 to almost $7 per pack. only about a dollar of this money goes back to "Big Tobacco" industries and all the tobacco companies. the rest are taxes.. federal, state, etc. etc. These taxes help go towards children hospitals and disease research which in turn help save lives. so all you anti-smokers and truth[dot]com lovers.. FUCK YOU. you are killing us. you want us to die from other diseases quicker. smokers, thank you. i appreciate taking your lives so the little one's can live.
