It's not the celebrities... It's the media.. So you sould thank the media. And also, being the media, it's not their fault you feel bad when you see commercials. You want to look good? Go biking or something, don't sit on the couch.

You cant say the celebrities distract people from important news. That would be like saying pot distracted me from my homework in high school.
You can't really be distracted from something unless on some level you want to be.
And next time you have self esteem issues from watching too much TV go out somewhere and look at the typical person around you. I'll bet it makes you feel a whole lot better about your personal appearance.
