A Company You can Trust

I was waiting for my coffee to brew, and while waiting, I read the bottom of the coffee mug. There is a sticker with bold letters that state, "The colors used for decoration on this mug contain lead and cadmium, elements recognized by the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects."

Then imprinted around the edge of the bottom..."A Company you can Trust."

What the hell is up with that? Does a CEO believe we'd rather delve into alzheimer's while drinking the morning brew?

I rented an apartment one time and the landlord and I were filling out the paperwork before I moved in. We were almost done when he glanced at the last paper and asked me if I typically ate paint chips.

I don't, but I was curious so instead of answering him I asked why he wanted to know. He said there might be some lead paint under several layers of recent paint and he was legally obligated to make the tenants aware of it.

Stuff like that really shouldnt be as legal as it is. But apparently its perfectly fine to be surrounded by health hazards, as long as you have knowledge of them.

I guess they figured you were supposed to use the mug for decoration and not to actually drink coffee from.

EVERYTHING is hazardous in California. You would think, though, that living right on top of two of the most active fault lines in the Northern Hemisphere, having Ah-nold for a governor, and having a stream of illegals and drugs coming across your Southern border would be a bigger concern than a little heavy metal on your coffee mug.

#3, a little heavy metal in something you drink out of will cause you to be so stupid, the illegals doing drugs will be 10x smarter than you are.

Unless you were licking the side of your mug, i don't see what the problem is...

Well, many don't. Yes, no one breaths in those new energy efficient bulbs, but what happens when you throw them away? They build up, leak, and after a few years of a billion bulbs in the garbage (and this is just from 1 out of a million items that contain heavy metals) mercury and other things leak into waterways, where it eventually ends up back into the body.

And, I guess another way to think about it, some toys, even the ones made in America, now contain lead in the paint because it's cheaper to produce. The rate of Autism is about 1 child out of 110. And that's just one disorder. If you don't see what the problem is, look around at skyrocketing rates of Alzheimer's, Autism, dementia, etc etc etc and then if kids sucking on lead doesn't bother you, just think about how allll of this leaks into the waterways, so now we have rivers of heavy metals where people swim, get their drinking water, etc, and it all ended up being there so a company somewhere can save a few dollars. That's what makes me mad... People making products containing all these chemicals just to save money.

^ Well, this was all known 50 years ago, no one gave a shit because big business made big money, and that continues to be the case. Unless you can get yourself elected World President it ain't gonna change. All you can do is build a dome and live apart from the rest of the world.
