Bono, Fuck Off Already
I was watching "Fab Life & Blender Presents: 20 Most Outrageous Celebrity Extravagances" or whatever it was called. U2's Bono apparently paid nearly $2000. 00 just to have his fucking HAT driven to the airport and escorted "first class" to whatever country he was in so he could wear it that night to a concert he was performing in.First off, instead of being a complete crybaby douche, just buy another hat. Or suck up your loss and go without it.
But the real reason for my rant is this.
Here is a celebrity who insists on EVERYONE ELSE to spend and donate money to Africa and help to provide kids over there with medicine and food, meanwhile HE'S spending $2000. 00 to have his fucking hat flown over to him.
Thats enough money to feed at least 2 or 3 small villages in Africa. I make ALOT less than you do, Bono, but you want ME to donate my hard earned cash to YOUR charities?
GO FUCK YOURSELF.

What business is it of yours how he spends his money? Do you not realize that for someone that has as much money as he does that spending $2000 is like you spending a buck? He does more for people than you do I'll bet money on that. Are you suggesting that he spend everything he makes on relief efforts?
Just out of curiousity, how much do you donate to charity? Second question. Do you ever spend money on things that people in third-world countries would consider frivolous?

i would also like to point out he owns a very expensive hotel in dublin... One which i am sure he keeps the profits from. i understand making money on the music and all... But if he is so opposed to the inequality in the world, maybe he shouldn't play into the capitalist system with a buisness venture to make more on top of the boatload he makes one the music.
i think a lot of people feel he is self-promoting and not as innocent as he claims to be.
that being said, any money he donates does help and even if it is self-promoting as well, he raised awareness.... Maybe not hoping so much you donate, but that others like himself will (even if it is also self-promoting).
i also must admit i think he makes great music.

Why shouldn't I take his side? Do you know how much money he spends helping people in Africa? It's way more than you spend and probably more than you'll spend helping people in your entire life. The fact is that he has enough money to spend a ton of it helping people and still have plenty left over to spend on himself any way he feels like.
Even if you take the money out of the equation, just the time he puts into raising money and awareness for the cause is more than most people do.

#2 whether its the OP's business or not on how he spends his money, i understand what they are trying to say. having your hat sent to you for $2000 is pointless. its basically a waste of money. instead of wasting it, use it for charity. i agree with the OP.

It's just like Al Gore...... You CAN'T walk around preaching this without practicing it yourself. If I were that famous for something important and meaningful, I wouldn't buy a huge ass house, that's just retarded. Now I wonder if there are any, any at all, people out there famous for "helping people" that actually live the life they preach?!

Bono has gotten the western world to forgive African debt of more than $440 billion. That's $440, 000, 000, 000; $2, 000 is . 000, 000, 000, 22% of that.; that's 22 cents out of two hundred million dollars. Get over it. Get off your fucking $2, 000 computer and go out and help someone.

Just for the record, although I'm sure nobody cares, this is one of those long standing urban legends that floats around the internetz.
I'm too tired to refute your other claims about his charitable activites, and I wouldn't say he's perfect, but he's done a hell of a lot more than most people.

Lets say a man gives money to a homeless man in front of his girlfriend, just to impress her. Self-promoting. This man is not a hero because his act is done for self-promoting reasons. Same situation as Bono, just on a bigger scale.

Stars are always doing funny things with their money. However, stars that choose to take on such wonderful causes as Africa (really, don't they get enough relief aid?) choose to put themselves in public scrutiny.
For anyone that'll slam me for my comment about Africa getting enough aid... well, look at it this way, they spend all their money on guns and ammo so that they can kill each other. If they stopped fighting long enough to take control of their country and get rid of the fucking diamond cartel, well then they wouldn't be so god damn poor and in need of aid!
