Florida Power & Light is a piece of shit

Does anyone else here live in South Florida? Can anyone tell me why the fuck the damn power goes out ten times a day every day? Did the little hamster on the wheel get tired of running around?

Seriously! WTF!?! I can't remember the power ever going out in the 30+ years I lived in NJ. Does FPL have stock in APC, the company that sells the battery back ups?

You would think in this day and age someone could figure out how to keep the damn power on.

I live in Central Florida and our power used to go out at the drop of a hat too but lately things have gotten better now that more areas have underground utilities.

My uncle worked for FPL down at St. Lucie for 6 years, you would not believe some of the shit that goes on at these plants. Of course no one hears about it because they'd have the nuke inspectors crawling all over the place in a minute if word got out. Besides, we never tell the public ANYTHING because it's "national security," right? All I know is I'd never live within 20 miles of that place.

10x a day sounds a lil bit exaggerated... understand though, that you live in one of the hottest states in the USA, and it's during the summer months. a lot of people run their A/C more, plus tourists can't cope with your heat, so they run the A/C even more.

Most places in China, even dorms, have their electricity shut off every night, each night, until daylight, don't complain.

We're not in China, though, so we're not used to it. I'm sure that if an American or someone else who wasn't used to it went t there, they'd complain.

I've lived in Florida for 18 years. And yes, we do have an abnormal amount of power outages. I sympathize with you, and can only give some minor suggestions. I live on the barrier island in Ormond. Salt air is very damaging to powerlines, as it is to our cars and homes. Until all of us have underground lines, just be sure to have plenty of candles, stock up on ice, and have some pastimes to occupy yourself until the power comes back on, such as reading, catching up on written correspondence, go talk with neighbors(who are also without power), go to the beach if weather permits, play board or card games. There's no sense letting something that's out of your control upset you.
