Pay and hubristic corporate America
I'm an art director of a medium-sized printing company in a medium-sized city, and beyond the indescribable amount of social dilemma and irritation most of us have to suffer through daily, I'm physically fucking exhausted from knowing people that work half as much as I do get paid three times as much. One inherently meaningless document that has "Degree" stamped across it like a pretentious brand name gone horribly wrong is the difference between 20 thousand dollars and 60 thousand dollars. Oh, and skill? Fuck skill! You don't need any fucking skill! The fact that you graduated high school two years early and worked in the graphics field for five years doesn't mean dick in this arrogant backwards self-defeating suit-wearing fear-mongering society! No no, you have to spend four years of your life getting drunk and fucking to be handed a piece of paper that says you can do what you already were fucking doing for half your life.I'm surprised off my ass to see the human resource geniuses throughout our country completely befuddled by why they can't hire the right people. "Well, Subject A completed a four-year degree, and mentioned on his resume that he was 'extremely motivated'. He even participated in school government and was captain of the soccer team! I just cannot fathom how he could have no actual talents!"
Human society has historically benefitted primarily from naturally skilled individuals that procure positive growth and conceptual evolution. Any average person could reason this, given that college textbooks are not filled with the modicums of history but the individuals that honestly created change. Individuals, not generic brand-name college degrees, are what motivate economic growth. I'm fucking tired of being insulted by the hubristic idiots running this country into the ground.

Ugh, I couldn't agree more. I'm not even going to fight it though. I'm going to go get my $120, 000 degree just so I can one day make a little less that annually.

Appearance over substance has been our hallmark ever since we allied with mammon over man. Look at our fruit and vegetables. So attractive, so much less real food value than those poor cousins of the primitive past. And have you noticed, in the past 30 years or so, we've managed pretty well to cull the unattractive from the ranks of the successful, talented, wealthy, at least in the media. Progress in the real world is ongoing and I imagine a future where all are goodlooking and successful. By the way, much better rant than this is a reply.

Rock on. I agree. But, what could I do? Well, I went and partied for four years like they want you to do, that's what I did. Now I hate my job, but at least it pays a little more. However, I'd give my left nut (haha, I'm a girl) to go back and re-live those four years again. Guess, in a round about way, they got something right. Everyone should party hard for at least four years of their lives.

To all the positive comments on my rant:
Thanks for reconciling your emotions with mine. I have a lot of respect for anybody that busts ass day in and day out because they're looking over the horizon to what they honestly passion to do. We're the supporters of the economy. We're the working class. And we're the people that deserve the respect.
