Apple really pisses me off. Yet another iPhone rant.

I recently heard that Apple won't take cash for it anymore. This allows them to track people who buy it. They say it because people "unlock" the phone (ie. lets people use it as they see fit) and resell it.

Privacy implications aside, this should say to them that people are sick of product lock-in and want more freedom as consumers. Shocking revelation!

Maybe Apple should take the hint and sell the thing unlocked in the first place?

But no, that's a preposterous idea!

That is what you get. Anytime you just have to be the first person you know to have something, you will not only pay a premium for it, but you will also have to deal with all sorts of problems. If you gave it a year, you would have bought a reliable product with user friendly features, but since you thought paying like $600 for a damn phone makes you cool, you get what you got.

Where did he say he bought one for $600. There selling for $400 now for one thing and for another he's not bitching about the quality, he's talking about Apple not taking cash for them so they control who uses them.

My point is that I guaren-goddamn-tee you that this time next year, you will be able to hook them up through any service provider you want, thus removing the need for the cash ban. There is a cash ban to keep people from buying large quantities of them, unlocking them, and selling them at inflated prices. (in my book $600 or $400 for a phone is pretty fucking inflated anyways) You are blowing a months rent on a phone, so if various parts of the service or sales policy piss you off, I think you are getting what you have comming asshole.

I'm the original poster. No i did NOT buy one. I have a brain. It's just when I hear of companies doing underhanded things like this it burns my butt.

So why does Apple still think people like product lock-in? This is all the proof they need to the contrary.

whatever. you probably just can't afford one and that's why you're so pissed off. you've probably never seen a hundred dollar bill in your life.

I CAN afford one. But I will not buy something that is locked down so you can't do anything with it. I paid my money for it, I should have full control over it. Simple as that.
