Best Buy blows
They don't know shit about computers. They told me my hard disk was fucked. I knew it was bullshit since I had taken it out and put it into an older system and it worked fine.So I took my computer to a specialized place and they confirmed what I thought the problem was the whole time - a dead motherboard. I bought a new board and fixed it myself.
Fuck, who needs these people? I was right about what the problem was the whole time!
So keep the 40 bucks for the diagnostics and choke on it you assholes.
I guess that's what happens when they hire high school kids. They haven't a fucking clue.

1Best Buy and their Geek Squad isn't the only place that doesn't know anything about computers. Circuit City and they're bullshit Firedog is just as bad. I always take my computers to a small local computer repair shop where the geeks are real geeks and not just wannabe geeks that should be showing people how to use their remote instead of diagnosing computer problems.

2I have had really bad experiences with best buy too.
I don't know much about their geek squad, but I know the training only takes a few weeks. As a customer, I went in to buy a laptop, with the intention to buy it there, because their sales are ok sometimes.
The sales person was a pimply faced kid that would not leave me alone. He tried to tell me which computer I wanted, and told me I needed to use geek squad, and I couldn't just walk out without their ad and free trial removal service, which was way too high priced.
The guy was in such a hurry to sell to me that he didn't want to listen to me. He was not very knowledgable either, So I said peace and went to circuit city, and found the same computer for $300 cheaper (not on sale) and was not pressured to do anything. They let me take my time and pick which services I wanted.
I worked at Best Buy, too, and they don't pay their sales people commission but they put a huge amount of pressure on you to meet sales of their service plans and services. They walk around with a sales numbers sheet and expect you to care about how much money the store makes, while no matter how much you sell your payrate is the same.
The only good thing about it was that there was no actual physical work involved, except stocking every once in a while, and light cleaning.
Overall, this company does screw people out of money with their services, check bestbuysux.org for more bad experiences. You can vent there, too.

3Best Buy screwed me over so badly that they had to buy me a new computer.
I brought my laptop to their BS GeekSquad and they LOST MY DAMN COMPUTER (oh, it's in the store...oh no, wait, it's being shipped to our repair center, scratch that, it's here...etc). So, after 3 months of not having a computer, getting the runaround from everyone at Best Buy and GeekSquad, I told them that I was not putting up with their crap anymore and they better give me a new computer free of charge. After a 3 hour (!!!!!!) ordeal with the effing store manager, I finally left with my new computer (no warranty from their store, however-I will NOT be dealing with them again). It was the crappiest service I've ever gotten, and the people were so far from helpful that it was laughable.
Oh, they also charged me $75.00 for installing virus protection on my computer, and when I took it home, it wasn't even on there. Yay! Another trip back to the fucking store.
God, I hate Best Buy. They could not care less about their customers, it's all about making the most money while screwing over the biggest number of people. Fuck you, Best Buy.

4Glad you got a new computer from those a holes. Don't ever buy their garbage warranties. Besides, the computer manufacturer, 9 times out of 10, has at least a one year warranty when you buy the thing. After that, they will usually help out and fix it cheaper than any best buy.

5I guess we can only be glad that there is a choice when it comes to where you buy your electronics.
Something about Best Buy just pisses me off. I've been to ones all over California, and each one sucks more ass than the previous one. Sales are shitty, salespeople are never fucking around (when you actually want to ask a question), and then they charge way too much for whatever you need.
Fuck that.

7In the past 9 months I have had 2 of the worst customer service experiences in my entire life with any company ever. Both experiences were with Best Buy. One bad experience was with the incompetent Geek Squad and the other was with their online website. Not one Best Buy representative stepped up to take ownership and resolve their mistakes. I will never, ever, spend another dime at Best Buy, and I have gone out of my way to communicate my bad experiences with all of my friends and family. I have let them all know how poorly Best Buy treats customers and I have encouraged my children to never spend money at their stores. And they don’t!
Best Buy is the worst company ever in my opinion. They care about nothing but revenues and they have lost all personal touch with their customers. They are too big for their own good and they have lost sight of the fact that customers drive their business. End of story! Without customers there would be no Best Buy. I wrote a letter to their CEO and some customer service rep sent me a “form” letter with an unacceptable generic response. Just another example of Best Buy’s failure to take ownership of a problem that they created all on their own. I will continue to share my bad experiences with everyone I can. After all, Best Buy needs to realize that when they create a horrible customer experience the customer has a network of family and friends. This results in a negative word of mouth domino effect. Good luck to them. I hope they go down the drain.

8Best Buy Blows because they advertise one price online and once you get to the store of course its the full price, they are more than happy to pull up their internet and look for you and they only show the full price. Like I'm some idiot or something, like I am going to some other bestbuy.com than those people in the store. I hate best buy customer care, they have stuff printed everywhere about price matching but they dont even match their own online prices. MY advise to anyone shop online and do a store pick up. I left the store pissed off and went back home to do just that, I not only got the better price but because they didn't have my order in less than ONE MINUTE I got another 10 dollars off. So compared to if I would have bought it at the store I have now saved myself 26 dollars off a VERY decent tripod. Still think BEST BUY BLOWS though
