DeodoRANT

I went to Walgreens tonight and they had the deodorant locked up! I had to wait for a person to come and unlock the cabinet. Who the hell steals deodorant? Lock up the make-up or the teeth whitening things or the DVD's.... But the deodorant? I stood there for awhile and then I decided they had 30 seconds and I was putting my basket of stuff in the middle of the floor and I was walking out. I will not go to that Walgreens again!! Locking up deodorant... Sheesh

Exactly #1, if they're going to lock up the $4 merchandise they may as well lock up everything they have.

I had a similar experience at Kmart, probably my fault for trying to shop at Kmart. But I was trying to buy a cheap MP3 player for my kid, shes a little kid so shes not getting an expensive one, its was like $15. They had that shit locked up like fort knox THEN I wasnt even allowed to carry it around while I finished shopping, I had to pay for it right then or I didnt get it.

While Target, a similar type store, has like 20 MP3 players right there for everyone to buy as they wish. They only locked up the ones that were over $150, thats understandable though.

It's a bunch of ridiculous bullshit.

You'd be SOOOO surprised what people steal.. I work at a Home Depot part time and I've found empty packages that once contained items that cost a couple of dollars. That's the preferred method of theft in the place I work... take a package off the shelf - go to an area where the thief can un-package it and it goes in their pocket, and the empty package gets thrown anywhere. People CAN and DO steal more than you can imagine. The inventory numbers at the store I work in alone was $2.8 million in loss in a years time.

Apparently, those guys who steal deodorant really stink.

I know some people will steal anything. But is loss prevention on cheap items really worth inconveniencing and possibly losing paying customers?

Because if one store makes me wait 15 minutes to purchase a $5 item next time I will go to a store that doesnt do that. I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels that way.

Was it just the spray kind, or all kinds? Was thinking that maybe some kids are "huffing" deodorant now, perhaps. Though at least their breath would be the freshest around.

At least they didn't use "Anti-perspiRANT"...

That might've taken them a year to come up with.

Well... To be honest. I used to steal deodorant all the time. It's not that I couldn't afford it at the time... More like why pay for it when I can slip it into my pocket for free. Deodorant, toothbrushs, face wash, etc. I used to steal deli meat and cheese from the Krogers down the street. Grocery shopping is a lot cheaper when you don't pay for the most expensive items.

Don't tell me you haven't thought about not telling the cashier about those bottles of water/beer/whatever on the bottom of the shopping cart.

I also have a nearly foolproof way of ripping off any place with a self-scanner.

I don't really steal anymore... But back in the day, it was ridiculous.

Next thing you know they'll be locking up the Cotton Balls, Q-tips & Toilet Paper. And if you're worried about the stupid kids hurting themselves lock up the Dixie Cups too!!! People often drink alcohol from those ya know! Can we stop trying to protect the stupid people from doing stupid things to hurt themselves? Seems kinda dumb to me! Let 'em kill themselves sucking Axe deodorant to get high and we won't have to worry about them anymore!
