Finals
Why do teachers weigh finals exams so that they're worth 40% of your grade? as if that's not bad enough, the most boring core classes make sure that the test is cumulative. we are already learned it once and were tested over it once, don't make us go through the torture of relearning the material so that we can get another A (or B,C, etc) on the same material.Rating:5.00

1Exactly. I never understood that either. you go to class everyday, do all of the work, do well on tests, and then your grade depends on one test that is purposely more difficult than every other test. It's retarded. These tests can ruin the grades that you worked for three months straight.

2What do you think finals are? They are final exams covering everything you were supposed to have learned during the semester. Obviously that makes them redundant.

3wow, i cant beleive you are bitching about that. First of all, if they cover things you have already learned (and therefore are redundant) they should be easier because you already know the material. Secondly, in grad school your final is 100% of your grade. No grades except for a three hour final. As if that is not bad enough, they are graded on a curve. My professor in the final i am taking today said that in 30 years of teaching this class, nobody has ever made over a 57% on it. That means if I make a 50%, I could make an A, unless the person sitting next to me makes a 51%, then im pretty much fucked. You work for ten hours a day all semester long, then your entire grade is based on a three hour exam which is specifically designed for you to do poorly on, and your grade really depends more on how other people do than on your own performance.
SO BOO FUCKING HOO IF YOUR FINAL COVERS MATERIAL THAT WAS ON OTHER TESTS AND CONSISTS OF 40% OF YOUR GRADE

4let me guess, you are a liberal arts pansy

5Actually, many finals are not cumulative, commenter #2. Therefore, 40% of the grade is based on one section of the class. Things aren't always the way you see them.

6Testing SHOULD be for retention, not just short-term knowledge. Although I'd like to see them narrow the test matter down to stuff you'll actually use in the real world. (For example, not once in 20 years have I EVER had to solve a quadratic equation!)

7Waaaa, waaaaa, i'm in graduate school and my finals are 100% of my grade! WTF, you went to graduate school, that is your choice. Grad school is supposed to be harder. Plus most of your classes are for your major. When you are an undergrad, half the classes you take don't mean shit, and they have nothing to do with the career you are considering.
What't the matter, you couldn't get a real job after graduating, because you picked a faggoty ass major?
Probably philosophy or fucking psychology or english.
Get a life and get out of school. How old are you?

8Liberal arts isn't for pansies.
It's for people that don't want to sit in a room by themselves and solve quadratic equations. Many future lawyers are liberal arts majors. 60k right out of law school is for smart people, not pansies.
You must like numbers, because numbers don't talk back to you, and you don't have to communicate with them, like you do with people.
Now go sit in a corner with your calculator, mister biochemical engineering major. Don't forget your prescription glasses and your pocket protector.

LMFAO. You're arguing over a difference of $5k? Do you seriously see a big difference between $55k and $60k?

12Law school is for those with no conscience. How can anyone be a lawyer and also have a conscience? I just can't see it.

13You know, there are lots of areas of practice besides prosecuting and defending people or companies. It's easy to bad mouth attorneys but if your mom or sister is every raped I bet you'll be the first in line to suck the prosecutors dick.

14hey, mr. "your all fucken idiots."
its you're not your. and fuckin not fucken.
And WTF is the guy with the conscience issues talking about? Look up all the different types of lawyers. Many of them don't work with issues that have to do with "guilty" or "innocent".
And shut the FUCK up about the 55k a year bullshit. Seriously, like the last guy said, it's a 5k difference.
