Clinic quacks

Two months ago I went to my walk-in clinic with a bad cold and sinus blockage. I told the doctor (who I think was in the exam room for all of 45 seconds) that I was having trouble hearing out of my left ear. He gave my generic antibiotics (Z-max equivalent) and sent me on my way. Well, the cold is long gone but I STILL can't hear out of the left side - after 2 months and 2 more visits to the same clinic! I have just finished 3 weeks of ear drops which had no discernible effect. The doctor now admits it is probably not bacterial but some kind of virus and that I'll have to wait and see if it runs its course. (How long, I'm wondering - 2 MORE months???) This clinic is part of one of the biggest health care networks in FL, and they claim they have the best doctors, lab techs, yada yada. Yet with something as routine as an ear infection they appear to be stymied. You'd think that a month ago when the lab tests came back he'd have known they were running a wild goose chase. Only thing positive about this experience is that I have a new appreciation for people with hearing loss. It is annoying as HELL only hearing muffled buzzing in one ear while you're trying to understand people talking with the other one.

I guess the question I have to ask is why would anyone treat a walk-in clinic as their primary physician?

^ To clarify, my Dr. closed her practice in September - didn't tell any of her patients - I'm getting the run-around from insurance and have to wait until January to get an appointment with any of their "approved" providers. So in the meantime, the clinic or the ER are the only choices.
