Chocolate Jesus

I just saw the Artist Cosmo (forget his last name, forgive me) on CNN (I think, I was surfing) and watched the video of the debate with some christian idiot and Cosmo. The artist did a nude jesus on the cross sans cross out of chocolate and suddenly everyone is up in arms over it.

I like what the artist had to say and I support him 100%. But here's my take on it:

Unlike a mirror of glass which shows your reflection for any who care to see if they are close enough, real art is a mirror that is more personal. Call it the ultimate personal mirror. Real art reflects not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside. You can walk in front of a mirror with clothing and fool me, because I cannot see what is truly on the inside, or even under the clothing. But walk in front of art and be teased gently into opening your mouth and surely the truth about you will slip out, even if you do not wish it to. Even if you hold your tongue closer than you hold your beliefs you will let slip out what is really there, even if it is only by way of thought processes that fore shadow your words.

That preacher, minister, or whatever he was who had a big problem with a naked Jesus is obviously a twisted man. Because he didn't like the sculpture? No. Because of his true intentions. He made it clear that if he were al quida (probably spelled that one wrong) the artist would lose more than his head. What a sick thing to say to anyone, let alone by a man of the cloth. He also said that the hotel and gallery, which he brought pressure to bear upon and caused them to stop the showing of the artwork, were morally bankrupt (along with the artist) and he was now going to make sure they were financially bankrupt.

Remember now, this has less to do with the religious idiot than with his statements and intentions and the fact that he dupes people with his "holy"ness.

Makes me sick. If religion is such a good idea why is it based in slavery? It enslaves, not empowers.

Anyway, that's all I have to say.

For now... (Mwahahahahah)

I wrote an article about this when all the original bruhaha was going on before the first opening and I pretty much agree with you. I would like to point out though that the artist secretly loved what happened. Think about it. If it hadn't been for the religious nuts the only people that would have known about the show would have been the artistic community. Instead, he and his art were on every major TV and radio show and in every newspaper in the country, not to mention the exposure he got on the Net.

    video: youtube.com

That donohue guy is a complete dickhead and the fact that the christian community is NOT publicly speaking out against him leads me to believe that they are all just like him deep down.

Jesus is the way the truth and the light and the only way to god the father.

yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thou rod and thou staff comfort me, thou leadest me beside the still waters, my cup runneth over, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the lord forever. Amen.

. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.

The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”

The good news is that, about 2, 000 years ago,
