Bring back the draft
Let's have the draft back and end the volunteer army forever. You could still enlist, but you would serve nonetheless. Medical, only child, and deferments of conscience would be avaliable. NO OTHER. That way we can light a fire under the asses of these young fence sitters and see where they really live. We're tubing here in the States and everybody is sitting on their asses. Instead of all these kids going to work for the contractors who get huge military contracts, they can do the same work employed by uncle sam for allot less instead. It's called "SERVICE," and it doesn't mean "would you like fries with that."Rating:0.00

Volunteer armies keep specialization. If you create an army made of people that don't want to fight, we will not win. A lot of the "volunteers" WANT to fight, and therefore give a better war. We can't just throw Jack and Sally in there. I can promise to God that if I was taken out of my pre-med program and track for a good life to go to Iraq, I'm just going to smash my leg under a car.
