Disasters: the New Lottery

I'm really tired of hearing about what victims anyone that loses a loved one in any sort of disaster is in white countries, particularly America. My reason for this is simple: by watching the news even carelessly for several years I have noticed the trend of how whenever something bad happens the survivors are allowed to sue anyone and everyone and ultimately working stiffs like me have to pay the bill.

I remembered September 11th only because of all the millionaires it made by way of scams and lawsuits. I had saved a picture of the grin on one mother's face when the court awarded her a lot of money just because one of her kids was killed at Virginia tech. Sadly I can't find it, but naysayers would just say she is a regular Mona Lisa anyway. That is not the only instance. Heard another story a week ago about the families of the victims of the nightclub fire by the band Great White getting a fuckload of money they have no moral nor logical right to (at least beyond funeral expenses).

I remember another story where some illegals died crossing the border in Arizona and sued and won a lot of money because gee golly jeepers, Americans are supposed to have plenty of public watering holes for illegals crossing in the desert.

You want a fucking victim? Try this: my brother nearly lost his life due to some lowlife cunt driving uninsured, underage, and an unlicensed vehicle on the road. She broke down on the freeway in pitch darkness (no lights, no nothing for miles) and does she turn her hazard flashers on? Even put out flares? Oh no, just stand on the side of the freeway waving lights and distracting other drivers, including my brother. He could have been going 20 mph and still hit her shitty car in that darkness and distraction. Her bullshit totaled my brother's car which the family also relies on. The one time we actually needed the insurance we so dearly pay into and treat right, we are denied and she goes free. Nothing done to her asshole parents nor the insurance company, nor the fuckhead cops. But did we sue? No, even though we sure could have and should have. Why? Because we have a fucking concept called honor: not fuck everything up and pass the damage onto everyone else as is done to us daily.

So don't give me this shit about "victims". When this bullshit of disaster victims suing and winning millions of dollars they should be denied because of their stupidity (Katrina, Ike, other idiots staying behind against warnings) and because shit happens and it doesn't give anyone the right to riches goes away, then I'll actually remember disaster victims and feel sorry for them because I could be in the same predicament any day. Until then, shut the fuck up and keep your lawsuit/lottery ticket in the god damn dark.

I understand your point about the IDIOTS who stay behind against warnings, but sometimes you are right to sue. You piss away thousands of dollars on insurance they MAKE you buy, these companies get filthy rich and find bullshit ways to deny coverage.

Not suing these fucks is having honor? I think not.

There should be no mandatory insurance bullshit, but that's another rant. Very lucrative business when people are FORCED to purchase your service, huh? Perhaps if there was an alternative, they would shape up.

I think we need a few global disasters to make people realize what really matters.

Kill off 50%+ of the worlds population and watch how quick the rest re-prioritize their lives.

The only victim here was me for having to read this drivel.

I fell asleep half way through and hit my head. I may sue.

Wow... Maybe you should look into therapy for this anger problem? And why does it have to be a "white" thing? There are lots of non-whites suing and staying behind regardless of warnings, etc.

On a sidenote - What do you call 1000 lawyers chained together at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

I'm sure worse things could have happened than your brother totaling his car.

How many other people crashed their car that day and didn't sue.

Call yourself honorable? Shit happens! That's just life.

My Dad used to be the search and rescue co-ordinator for the Ontario Provincial Police in Thunder Bay district. He looked at it this way. If you're stupid enough to deny evacuation orders then when the people who come to rescue you show up, you had better have your cheque book ready because you should have to foot the bill. If you can't pay it, too bad. You can go to jail. These men and women risk their lives to pull your stupid ass out of your house because your moronic ego convinced you that you can defeat a hurricane. I am not nearly as charitable as dear old dad. I say fuck 'em. Let them die.

Not suing when you have a perfect case is not "honorable," it's stupid. Laws are put in place so that we can get recompense, and instead of going for what you're due, you're bitching about it.

Yeah, you're solving lots of problems.

Fuck Katrina, I live in the Midwest and 1/2 of my city was under water like 2 months ago, it was on the news for a couple days and now nothing. Do we call attention to ourselves, Nope. Those fucking people in New Orleans still are on the TV daily, 2 or 3 years after the fact. Guess I should have looted some local businesses and said it was Pres. Bush's fault it rained and flooded. Maybe people here would get a little more attention.

Take into account the fact that some folks could not evacuate for Ike due to evacuating from Hurricane Gustav 1 week prior. Yeah it sucks. Some couldn't afford it. But, given the chance to get out on a city bus, you bet your ass I'd be gone, money or no money. I can't defend the people who stay behind for storms. I just don't see the point in it. Plain Stupid if you ask me...
