2sure, america is great and beautiful but every country has its grotesque underbelly.
you'd be kidding yourself if you thought our country has alot of money.
all the debts to former russia and china are mind boggling... our (yes,, i'm american) country is suffering from huge problems and the first we should address is education.. it's a shame that we count ourselves one of the top developed countries yet there are 17 year olds who can't spell or punctuate.

And to clear things up, Bush never had the majority vote, leaving the electoral system and corruption to provide for his two term presidency. Did you know that there was VERY LITTLE military support from the United States before Pearl Harbour in December of 1941? WWII began in 1939. That's two years in which you guys just didn't feel like helping, because it wasn't your war. You declared neutrality on September 5, 1939. Canada joined the British, French, Australian and New Zealand forces on the 10th.
Get your facts straight before you go around parading your part in world events.

9To the commenter just above. Some of what you say is true but even though you act like you are some kind of historian, you're full of shit about WWII. If it wasn't for the US, Europe would not have stood a chance against the Germans. What difference does it make when the US entered the European conflict? The important part is that we did and it's the outcome that matters.
Hitler did not attack the US, the Japs did and it was far more important to defeat the Japanese. The fact that we came to the aid of our alllies in Europe while we were defending ourselves against the Japanese and people like you are ungrateful, just pisses me off. My father saw shit that no man should ever have to endure and ended up with a permanent limp defending you fuckers and if any of you clueles Europeans want to walk up to me and tell me that the US didn't do anything for you in WWII, I'll knock your fucking teeth out.

Just so you know, I'm no historian. I just know what I was taught in my history classes in high school; namely that the United States had far less to do with WWII than they might like to believe.
Maybe you misunderstood the timeline I gave you. I'll make it nice and easy to understand:
The... war... was... going... for...2... years... BEFORE... the... U.S...did... anything...about...it...
Got it? I think it's great that you came to your own defense, but apparently the fact that a genocidal maniac was attempting to exterminate an entire race wasn't as important as... whatever else you were doing at the time.
The ONLY reason that the United States entered conflict in Europe is because Japan was allied with Italy, etc.
Now, don't think that I'm disrespecting veterans. My grandfather was a veteran, as were my great grandfathers. My fiance is in the Army Reserves, and I have a good friend going to Afghanistan in a month (to help clean up the mess that the American army left behind when they decided to go for more oil-rich pastures). I am thankful every day for the sacrifices of veterans in the name of peace.
Also, I'm not European, I'm Canadian. But you're more than welcome to try and knock my teeth out, if you can find my country on a map.

I think that the removal of Saddam Hussein as a power was necessary for the beginning of the peace process in the Middle East.
What I DO NOT understand is how this has anything to do with the Taliban. Do you? Maybe the Americans are getting special information we're not?
What I see that happened: U.S. attacked. Everyone willing to help root out the evil. Everyone goes to AFGHANISTAN in an attempt to root out the Taliban. United States got a severe case of A.D.D. U.S. leaves Afghanistan to pursue a more profitable war.
As for "having nothing to do with the US", think about it. Think of all the shit that everyone got for not joining the "Coalition of the Willing".
World War 2 was a clear-cut case of good and bad (i.e. some nutcase exterminating thousands of innocents), just like the war on the Taliban. That's why people were willing to assist the United States army in their first venture. However, to start a war like that and then abandon it to the other countries to clean up is just plain rude.
The current war, whatever you want to call it, is like Vietnam all over again. Little support from the public, way too much expenditure of human life and resources, and for what? To change a country's way of life to one that YOU like.
