Ladies, let it go
I usually try to keep my nose out of the whole dating vent business, because it just makes people look all whiny, but I'm noticing a trend here.1. Me and my last girlfriend broke up, and she wanted to stay friends. Calling me, saying she still loved me and didn't want to lose me, all that jazz.
2. My friend broke up with her boyfriend, and wanted to be friends with him. Didn't want to lose him as a friend because they had known each other for so long, so on.
3. Another friend of mine has a crazy ex who still won't let him go, stealing his phone and stupid shit like that so she can see him, even though he is dating other girls, and has let her go.
Okay, last example is a little sketchy I know... but seriously, WHAT THE FUCK?
Why do girls still want to be friends with guys they've broken up with?
What do you get from being friends with exes?
I just don't understand. After you break up, you go your separate ways. Don't sit around wasting time with someone that you've broken up with, move along and get someone else. No guy wants to be stuck filling the emotional void that he did when you were dating.

Guys don't mind it so much... Having an ex around for booty calls makes the dating scene far less stressful. Plus, now you don't have to put up with her constant bullshit.

Um. My ex is my best friend. And it works perfectly. He doesn't always like hearing details of my relationships, and I spare him, but he's there for me when I need him most, and he has my back in absolutely everything, the way a best friend should.
We just sort of developed from friends to lovers and back again.

But he still doesn't like hearing about who you're fucking and I guess you like that.

Girls are usually more emotionally involved with guys so it's easier for a guy to just walk away no strings attached. For girls it's a slower process.....

Good god, so as a guy the most emotionally damaging thing you can do (without actually doing anything) is to not answer the phone any more?

Opposite problem for me. Ex wants to be friends. Uh... I got dumped for being the wrong gender after several years of a weird relationship. WHAT??? You want me to be your WHAT??? He'd be better off waiting til I don't want to break his damn nose off his damn face before we're 'friends'.
