Taking a week off of summer vacation...??
The admin at my university has decided to shave a week off of summer vacation.I know what some of you are thinking.. A week? That's not too much.
Well, I take summer classes, and they run until August 4th or so depending on the class and if its last day is Wednesday or Friday.
NOW.. They want to start school one week earlier instead of the Monday before labor day JUST SO FACULTY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO SUBMIT EXAMS DURING FINALS WEEK???? MONTHS LATER?!?!?
Are these people fucking kidding me? I'm supposed to juggle 6 medical classes with a job, two student organizations while volunteering at the hospital and they want to shave a fucking week off of my barely 4 week vacation (out of the entire year basically, except for 2 weeks in xmas) just so they can have more time to grade exams???? MOST OF THE PROFESSORS I KNOW USE SCANTRONS... And when we dont' use scantrons.. They have their Teaching Assistants grade the fucking things.
Shit I am so pissed.
It is so pointless to do this.. It hurts the vacation so much while only helping the faculty by barely an inch.
It's like taking the life savings of a poor person and giving it to Bill Gates!

Actually, you have MY sympathy!! You sound like you work and study like a sonofabitch. Been there. Done that. Fuck the profs making arbitrary decisions. And damn straight they have teaching assistants to do their schlepping for them - that is, when they're not screwing them.

Maybe not, but I think you'll find a lot of the ones in the States probably have Irish ancestors which you are all so keen to have. Every American I have ever met has informed me how they at 1/8th Irish or something. Get over yourselves

What's this whiny fucktard of a wannabe doctor going to do when he is doing his /her internship and residency, working 36-48 hour shifts and not being able to take three month's vacation?
I'm not sure I would want this crybaby treating the smallest rash on my ass, much less anything more serious.

At least if you get sick in Ireland you can go to a doctor without having to offer him head as payment - because like most civilised countries they have a National Healthcare system.
But that's a whole differernt rant, isn't it.

#12... The whole point I was trying to make was that this is it.. This is the only chance as a "kid" I will have to get breaks before I start the real life. And the admin is so miserable themselves, they don't realize that they once had hobbies and lives and acitivities, so they decide to take time away from our enjoyment just because they have nothing to do.
