Stop the madness
Every year in this country nearly 500,000 people are put in jail for the bullshit "crime" of smoking pot. I'm not a lawyer but I thought crimes were things that actually HARMED OTHER PEOPLE!! Out political system has been brainwashed and brainwashing people about this since the 30s. Get real people. By now most people in this country have at least one point in their lives smoked a little pot. They did not go insane, kill, steal or rape anybody. The only thing most stoners i know kill is a bag of chips. There are a million reasons to end this insanity, economic, social, enviromental, health ect... But President-elect Obama actually spoke of leagalization early in his campaign. Now he is asking the American public for their thoughts on how to make our country better, you can submit them through his website. So Please, take a moment to share your thoughts with his staff. Save someone you love from pointless expensive jail time. It was a few crazy, racist asshole who got it banned in the first place. One letter won't change anything, but its hard to ignore several thousand.Rating:3.86

I can't even explain how happy I am we have Obama as a president.
I love how he LISTENS to people and ASKS for advice when he doesn't know what to do. It's even more cool how we can tell him what we want..

You really think politicians give a flying fuck about people's letters?
They only care about money. Too many large corporations would lose it if they legalized the herb.
Government and corporations are the same entity. I don't think many people know that.
The little people are there just to feed more money into the pockets of the rich. Make them work their asses off and give them a pitiful amount of it to barely get by, only to make them pay it back into the system.
So stop deluding yourself into thinking the people have any power whatsoever, especially through writing letters.
It would take tens of thousands, or even millions, flat out refusing to allow the government to steal their money to make an impact. What are they gonna do? One or a few people can be jailed. They wouldn't have the police manpower or the court resources to jail a huge number of people for tax (theft) evasion.
Big Brother is counting on the vast majority of people just bending over and taking it. If they stopped bending over, the government would be fucked.
Of course, thinking that people will ever band together and force change is simply a fantasy. Too much infighting. Every little thing that is different about us is used to keep us fighting with one another.
We are all fucking sheep and it is up to us to stop being so.

"And it is up to us to stop being so"
Does that mean following your advice and not doing anything?
I think Obama would very much care about letters.. He's in an entirely different generation and cares a lot more about people than your average washington fuckbag.

Ok #5 first off #6 is right, read your own words.
Also, People like you who focuses on our differences cause all that in-fighting.
Those corporations as well as the goverment could all profit greatly due to things like: tax money, the US spends several million a year on pot and none of it is taxed. Less people in jail, each one of those potheads costs around 20,000 a year to keep in jail. More employees who do good work and then smoke pot at home would be kept on payroll and out of the social services network, contributing more tax money in addition to not taking any. And we would no longer have to import hemp for things like clothing, oils used in cosmetics, paper ect....
Oh yeah and as for people banding together to change things, it happens all the time, it is called DEMOCRACY! Have you ever heard of the American Revolution, the civil rights movement. It is called grass-roots and it takes concerned people doing whatever they can to help make the change. But most of us are working, struggling people, we cannot go to Washington to lobby, or contribute huge sums to groups already working, but sharing your thougts with those in power is simple, you don't even have to shell out 42 cents for a stamp and walk your lazy, uncaring ass to the mailbox, just click and type.

Op, you're talking about marching on washington to legalize dope, in your thc clouded mind, is there not one thing better you could think of that needs attention first in this country, let's not push for a better economy or keeping troops from dying in iraq, but instead worry about pot ???? fukin' piece of shit burnouts like you make me sick..... pot does kill brain cells, you are absolute proof of that.....

As if a bunch of stoner potheads count mount the effort for a "march on Washington". It could only happen if the sides of the roads were covered with couches, TVs and PlayStations, and there would have to be fast food restaurants every 50 fucking feet. Even then, I doubt these wastoids would have the energy or the gumption.

I want weed legalized just as much as the next pothead but its never gonna happen.
First you have the taxation issues.
Then if half a million people are jailed each year (and we have to pay to keep them there) just think how many people get busted and DON'T go to jail, they have to appear in front of a judge to get fined or sentenced for community service. In my town court costs alone are $200.
Plus a lot of important politicians believe that pot is an evil gateway drug.

People, I think you missed the point, which is NOT that potheads should storm DC. The point is that we are in a war against our own citizens using our own money! Just like the war in Iraq must be stopped, this one should end too. It is sooooo stupid. All I am saying is that this could be one of many postive changes to be brought about.
BTW, I know a lot of stoners who are very dedicated and responsible people, they just get high after work instead of drinking a beer, all I'm saying is that I'm sick of watching people's lifes get screwed because of a law that should have been repealed along w/ alcohol prohibition (the proven gateway drug)

I have news for those of you who may comment or think that pot doesn't kill people. I may not kill the user, but it does kill or harm others. Think about it: what about the people who grow the shit? Or try to smuggle it in? Or have to work basically as slaves?
