Dear Drugs

Dear Drugs,

It's been four months. Today I miss you, so much. Just one last hit, one last pill, one last line. It's so hard without you sometimes even though you've destroyed everything. You took everything from me, my soul, my heart, my posessions, my pride. How can you have such a strong hold on me? I haven't thought about you much in a while but lately you've been on my mind. I dream about you all the time but I know I can't have you. I took advantage of you. I guess we just weren't meant to be. I hope i never spend another second with you.

sincerely,

addict.

    Hey #14,

#13 again her's the facts for you

How does marijuana affect the lungs?

Scientists believe that marijuana can be especially harmful to the lungs because users often inhale the unfiltered smoke deeply and hold it in their lungs as long as possible. Therefore, the smoke is in contact with lung tissues for long periods of time, which irritates the lungs and damages the way they work. Marijuana smoke contains some of the same ingredients in tobacco smoke that can cause emphysema and cancer. In addition, many marijuana users also smoke cigarettes; the combined effects of smoking these two substances creates an increased health risk.

    Can marijuana cause cancer?

Marijuana smoke has been found to contain more cancer-causing agents than is found in tobacco smoke. Examination of human lung tissue that had been exposed to marijuana smoke over a long period of time in a laboratory showed cellular changes called metaplasia that are considered precancerous. In laboratory test, the tars from marijuana smoke have produced tumors when applied to animal skin. These studies suggest that it is likely that marijuana may cause cancer if used for a number of years.

    13 or 16, whatever...

Don't you know that when something is written in a book or an online publication all you are reading is someone else's opinion. I don't know what well.com is and I don't really care to. But unless you're getting your facts from something like the surgeon general or the CDC, or even a university study.. no one is going to pay attention to it.

I can make a website if I want. I can call it assmonkey.com and write whatever i want to on it. Doesnt make it true though.

Oh and that doctor you know might just be a dumbfuck. I'm a nurse and I've met many dumbfuck doctors. That's why they have things called second opinions and malpractice insurance. Having the letters MD follow your name doesn't make you perfect.

    dear addict,

proud of ya man. i know its a hard fight regardless of what your hooked on. keep it up and just take baby-steps.

    dear #17,

you realize its people like you that keep marijuana illegal. i know people who have smoked it their whole lives (my self for 7 yrs) and it hasn't affected their lives one bit. and being a smartass nurse doesn't mean you know everything either. brainmind.com has links to actual case studies related to marijuana use. the reason theres not government studies that are done is because of the infamous FLAWED study done on a handful of monkeys in the 70's or 80's that blinded the unknowing general public. so mabey you should get your facts straight. the only reason its illegal is a money issue. your the type of person who would like to see prohibition re-instated and a country-wide ban on tobbacco. whats it matter to you what other people do anyway?

I had to write a goodbye letter to my drug of choice when I went to rehab I didn't find it therputic at all but I already had the deepest commitment to start living again as bad as most things you can get addicted to(which is practically every damn thing on earth) meth is by far the worst for so many reasons there is nothing more vile sick twsited evil and synthetic than meth also there is no more sure fire way or quicker way to lose your soul

I doubt anyone will read this but if you do the only wisdom I have is stay as far the fuck away from meth and meth users as you can I already paid the price you don't have to

    18, you fucking retard

It's people like you that make potheads look stupid. If you actually knew how to read you would know that I was arguing with #16 for saying that pot is bad for you.

And yeah I'd love to see tobacco made illegal cuz I smoke about a pack a day. I don't know what that even has to do with anything, but ok.

And yes, I know all about the government not being able to tax marijuana sales and would therefore lose tons of money. I smoked for many years and am very well informed on the subject. I've probably forgotten more than you'll ever know about pot so shut the fuck up until you can learn how to read and spell.

OP - I just read this today. You should be 5 months now, and like so many others I wish you well from the bottom of my heart. We addicts all know the struggle - and the price.

I "fell" after 8 months straight, last weekend - guilt-tripped for a couple of truly horrible days. Didn't tell anyone I know except for a former addiction counsellor of mine - brushed myself off - and said to myself - NO fucking way am I going BACK to where I was!

    You rawk, ok??! You rawk!

    :-)

I'm really happy that I'm not using drugs. My mom works at a hospital and she had to do a biopsy on a 20 y/o chick whose kidneys were fried from coke. I'm only 21, too. I'm glad you chose a life where you won't need dialysis (at least, I certainly hope not). Keep going, there are soo many services to help you. If you start to feel pangs, go and talk to someone, do SOMETHING before you feel the urge to take drugs.
