Leave Me Alone

I am so sick and tired of atheists attacking my religion. So what if I believe something different from you?

I am Christian, I follow the words of Jesus, I believe that Jesus was the Son of God, and there is nothing you or anyone else can do to change that. So please stop trying.

I let others believe what they want to believe, and I never try to force people to convert. The least you could do is treat me with the same level of courtesy.

And the only people I have ever had trying to tell me that I'm wrong are atheists. And they say Christians are the problem...

I admit, there are some Christians that are even worse than atheists for having a "holier-than-thou" complex (I'm looking at you, evangelical Americans), but if the atheists think they're so great then why do they act the exact same way?

Personally, I find it hard to take atheism seriously. It makes less sense than intelligent design.

someone needs to clear something up for me. i think Mary lied to everyone and said Jesus was God's son only because having a child out of wedlock back then was bad news and they probably would've killed her. so i think she said it to cover her ass. But either way, i believe Jesus was a man who went on to do great things. As far as being divine, I dont believe he was. But i do believe he was a strong MAN none-the-less. so what religion am i? or did i just make my own?

#18, I'm not talking about politics here, or the problems misinterpretation of religion causes. I'm talking about the pure beliefs. How can you believe that everything in the world just came to be by a series of increasingly unlikely coincidences? I just don't understand that. It's not that I don't understand the science, but I look around me and see so much beauty in the world and I just can't believe it's just luck.

    From the OP:

Hm... interesting discussion. Keep it up.

#17, in my opinion, that doesn't make you a Christian, because to be Christian you have to believe that Jesus was the Son of God. I mean, I have Pagan friends who believe that Jesus was a great man. Regardless of religious debate, historically speaking Jesus did exist. And if you believe that the Bible is correct in what he said, he was a very wise person. You don't have to be a Christian to live by wise words. I have a few Buddhist philosophies I believe in, and even a Zoroastrian one. Wise words transcend religion.

    From the OP:

#21, Originally, the term "pagan" meant farmer. Then it changed to non-Christian. Now it refers to something more specific. I think that #17 seems like someone who's still trying to figure out what they believe, but if I had to classify them, I would simply say agnostic.

"i would still qualify the words of Jesus as rules that were made up way too early to be relevant."

13, please elaborate. what is an example of a rule or law that is not relevant today?

JEEZ this is so sad I could totally type over a dozen well thought out chapters in just several hours on this subject alone but I will say is this, christianty is the ONLY religion(and I am not too fond of religion as it is spirtuality is whats truly important but as with chrisianity you can't have one with out the other) that clearly states YOU CAN'T EARN OR BUY YOUR WAY INTO HEAVEN other religions are all based on "WHAT YOU DO" what a crock of shit If you don't know the truth when you hear it you never will know it all jesus wants is for you to acknowledge him in all ways and for you to repent THATS IT no one is perfect FAR FROM IT you will screw up many many many times in life all jesus asks is that you try and turn away from your sin THE ONLY UNPARDINABLE SIN is not accepting jesus as the true lord and savior THATS IT

My bitch of a friend is always telling me how idiotic it is that I believe in God, I have never once told her how idiotic it is to be an athiest. I agree with you.

Everyone if you're a christian, athiest or whatever keep it to yourself. I can't stand christians that come to my door (ahem.. Jahovas Witness) and try to sell me their religion, I also can't stand athiests trying to tell me I'm stupid because I believe in God. If you are comfortable in your religion you won't try to pressure others into thinking that their beliefs are wrong.

The best thing about Christians is that they put their money where their mouths are... together Christians give more to help aide organizations than the US does.

Atheists can say what they would like but never say that Christians don't act better than non-Christians.

    From the OP:

#24, I have a feeling you don't know much about Christianity, and your comment has little to do with the post or the comments.

#25, it's always good to find people in the same situation. On Easter Sunday this year I got back from church to find a brochure on Easter from the Jehovah's Witness. It was annoying, to say the least. I don't necessarily believe that everyone should keep their religious beliefs to themselves, but they should definitely NOT be criticizing others or telling them they're wrong.

    #26, fair point, although controversial.

#27, that is a personal belief and opinion. Please do not state it as fact.

Athiests and Christians are more alike then they think. They are just on opposite sides of the pole when it comes to persecuting others for their beliefs. I am not saying every Christan or Atheist does, but a majority of them do. But for you to say "And the only people I have ever had trying to tell me that I'm wrong are atheists", is laughable. I have heard rumors of people killing in the name of Atheism, but it is countless how many Christians have killed in the name of their God. That was my little rant. But back to the begining. They act the same way because their believes are similar in a lot off ways. They believe they are right and everyone else should be enlightened by them. I'm agnostic, so my mentality is, i don't really give a shit what you believe until you start fucking with me.

    From the OP:

#29, I'm not talking about large scale wars, because I know Christians have a very shameful history of persecution. I'm just talking about in my daily life and my personal one-on-one experience, the only people who tell me off for being Christian are atheists.
