Gun control only stops the law-abiding
Why do people keep saying that we need to ban guns, that banning guns makes cities safer? Banning guns only takes them away from the law-abiding; criminals will always find a way to get them. And don't tell me that we just need better enforcement; drugs are plenty illegal, we spend billions on enforcement, and you can still get them easily. People will always find a way to buy illegal stuff, and if you ban carrying handguns (like in New York, Chicago, Detroit, and even DC, where the local courts are trying to get around the supreme court ruling), then you just ensure that the only people WITH guns are the criminals and the cops (who don't show up until AFTER you've been stabbed to death for what's in your wallet). Most guns used in crimes were purchased illegally, anyway. Let people defend themselves, for God's sake. Most muggers won't hold still while you dial 9-1-1. Criminals sleep a lot easier at night knowing their victims are unarmed.Rating:4.50

So, why do you need a handgun anyway?

To kill the bastard who breaks in your house... And KILL him. They WILL let him take it all in court if you let him live. Sucks majorly that it happens... Such is the world today.

And how often is your house being broken into?
Be honest, if someone was breaking into your house, the odds of you being there to shoot him are pretty long.
So, why do you need a gun?

Ever have the cops knock on your door at 8am on a Sunday because they're canvassing the neighborhood with questions about the ATM in the dumpster? Do you routinely hear gunfire at night? Or do you live somewhere where you feel perfectly safe leaving the door unlocked at night with the windows wide open? For me, it's yes to the first 2, no to the third. And yes, the odds of it being YOU are low, just as the odds of being struck by lightning are low; still, I don't go running through a field in a thunderstorm, do you?
#12; Note the fact that all the massacre-shootings happened in "Gun-Free Zones". Funny how the media never told about the one where the kid opened fire, and the teacher ran outside, got the gun from the lockbox in his car, and stopped that psycho without firing a shot. Funny how you never hear about the one where the guy killed 2 students at a college, and other armed students stopped him merely by aiming at him and telling him to freeze.

Funny how you never hear of gun massacres outside of the United States. Funny how the United States is the only country that takes gun ownership to such extremes.
Jesus Christ, no wonder you don't trust any other countries!! You can't even trust each other!

Hey #19... I've had a couple of my former homes broken into while I resided in them. Granted, I wasn't home at the time, but in each case, I didn't miss them by very long. And once, I watched some jackass steal my bike right off my patio. Boy was he surprised when I came outside with my handgun and told him to get the fuck off it. And, even though he pedaled away in a huge panic. , he did me a favor by dropping it off at the trailer park next to my apartment complex. I got it back later that day.
Oh, and the guy who saw him ride into the trailer park, said he rode in like a bat out of hell, jumped off the bike and ran away in a big hurry. Both me and the cop got a huge laugh outta that one.
I now live in a nice house, outfitted with more handguns and even a few rifles. I also have plenty of room to bury them in my backyard, and a former state police officer offered to loan me his backhoe if I need it.

#22... ever hear of Darfur? How about Rwanda? Somalia sound familiar? Iraq and Afghanistan? Plenty of gun violence and massacres happening in those places. Oh, but you refuse to recognize those, jackass.

^ perhaps you need to watch the news. Those are called war zones. You see, in a war, one side goes against the other and they use weapons, usually guns. Now, the last time I checked they didn't use nickel plated colt .45's with cop killer bullets, They use AK 47's.
And it's kinda funny that you are comparing the worst shit holes on the planet to the United States in order to further your weak assed argument.

^ just how the fuck do you think wars start? WWI started over some jackass shooting someone else. You know... that whole "think globally, act locally" thing actually proved itself out as a result. It started with one small act of "gun violence"
And, last time I checked, in Somalia, Rwanda, and Darfur, one side had significantly more guns that the other. Not quite what civilized people call a war, jackass. If one side is decidedly outgunned, they become extinct. So, you proved my point that guns are necessary to protect oneself.
And, in case you haven't noticed, shitbag, our lovely country has become fairly divisive. Don't tell me there aren't plenty of shithole places in the US, either.
And besides, if some common oxygen thief breaks into my house, I doubt very seriously he will respond to reason and proper verbal discourse. He will, however, respond to the threat of getting his ass shot off by yours truly, or find out exactly how that feels. After all, I am also poster #24.

^ Really? So, in your misguided view, because of what is happening on the other side of the planet, you must heavily arm yourself. I bet you're a lovely neighbor. And, sorry mister NRA I don't buy your story about the bike thief, or how the cops thought you were a hero citizen and that you can use the retired cops' backhoe. Not only are you reactionary, you are so full of shit, your eyes are brown.

28, things like that DO happen. There's selfish thieving morons out there who make it necessary to fight to survive or fight for property in some places.

Number 28 fucktard: as long as guns merely exist, bad people will use them against the good people. if the good people cannot fight back, evil wins. Is that how you like it?
