Down with religion
Look into any over the top, cruel and wanton atrocity in the world and chances you will find some scripture-spouting nutbar, judging, condemning, punishing and happily killing the innocent while cloaked in the garb of "faith". They preach love, but they practice exclusion, and they display a toxic intolerance to different views.Religious nuts are the ones most likely to start wars, to murder "because god told me to do it"... to drown their kids in a bathtub "because they were not pure", to smash their kids to death with rocks "because god said he would bring them back to life", to cut the arms off their kids and watch them bleed to death, to drive their car into a lake with their kids inside, to kill their wives and entire families because they weren't "godly enough", they kill to "get satan out", they tortured and burned innocent people (as well as animals) at the stake for centuries. "Believers" also make up a large number of violent prison inmates , and now the "holier than thou" are famous for molesting, raping, torturing, and threatening little children..... etc. etc. etc. the list goes on and on and on.
Funny how the majority of atheists and agnostics are intelligent, educated, well-rounded, scholarly, non-superstitious, non-threatening, critical-thinking, balanced, emotionally & mentally healthy and socially stable people who are capable of intelligent debate, and not prone to "magical thinking" (one of the hallmarks of mental illness and psychosis). 9 times out of 10 it's the religious nuts who are the real pathological crackpots.
Wackjobs have no interest whatsoever in educating themselves, and have no interest whatsoever in scientific evidence. All they care about is re-affirming their superstitious beliefs of disturbing stories of hell, damnation, devils, eternal suffering and ramming them down the throats of unsuspecting children. This is tantamount to child abuse. These nutbags should be ashamed of themselves! Educated, rational logical people should not have to tolerate self-prescribed psychotic people. Religious fanatics should be criticized harshly every time they open their dumbass mouths with their senseless drivel.
I will actively seek to oppose all kinds of theism, particularly evangelical types of religious infection, such as protestant xianity, catholic xianity and that tumor they call islam. These ideological people are bad and need to be answered with good information, propaganda, and memetic engineering - door to door if need be.
No violence obviously. We've gotta be careful. We're dealing with psychotic delusional fanatics here. Anti-theism needs to use the same memetic tools as the goddists have been using for centuries, just better. More scientificly grounded.

To the person who says the bible is mythology:
I'm not going to go off here, but I'm pretty sure there is nothing in the bible that says you have to believe every story and every word in there. Basically, the christian way of life is based on the teachings of the bible, such as:
Loving one another, don't kill, don't steal, repent for your sins, don't lust, and all of those other basic rules, along with believing in Jesus.
With that said, ask any person who has studied the bible intensely and is a christian, and if they have any common sense they will tell you that most of the stories ARE mythological.
All of the world's major religions and many other smaller religions are based on mythical stories, and anyone who tells you different is brainwashed. That doesn't mean you can't believe in the teachings and lessons in the books, which are pretty much just suggestions for human decency.
So, before you start calling all religious people delusional, it might be a good thing for you to know that many of them are not, and don't believe the stories, but DO believe that they were put there for a reason, such as to teach a life lesson.
I wouldn't expect someone with a hatred for religions to be open minded, but hopefully this gives you some insight.

I'm gonna break it down nice and simple for ya, of ye of little mind:
I wrote this article about pot. I entertained a great many arguments for and against it. Eventually it just dissolved in to useless name-calling, so I made it publicly known that I was not posting my opinions about Pot anymore.
Then, some people decided to try to rile me up about pot on the threads of some other articles. I politely reminded them that I'm not posting my ideas about pot anymore.
You, having an under-developed mind, took my statement of disinterest in posting anything more on the topic of pot as an announcement of retirement from this forum.
In this, you are - of course - incorrect. Good try though, you almost had me there. And so, I must once again refer your own condemnation of me, this time as an "idiot", right back in your face.

Fascinating. Not once in this thread has the word 'empathy' come up, which I believe is THE most important character trait anyone could have, religious or not. There IS no need for religion if you can put yourself in other peoples shoes, and take responsibility for your own actions. Sounds simple dunnit?
If I believe anything, I'll have either experienced it directly and made sense of it for myself, or else read it from SEVERAL different reliable sources. Even then, it can only become a convincing theory. Standing at my door with one book for your proof that I'm going to hell, whatever that is, isn't going to change my mind that blind faith or self-righteous piety are definitely NOT the codes by which I should be living my life.

Wow. People can get pretty uptight on both sides of the issue of religion. I personally think y'all should spark up a phatty and try this debate again. At least then u wouldn't feel the need to rip each other apart over such a trivial thing. People just gotta quite bein so pigheaded and onesided. There is always room to comprimise. I personally am agnostic (not that you should really care) but am always interested in learning more about religion considering human spiritual awareness goes hand in hand with human evolution. That can be scientificly proven. Besides, it's perverted pigheaded people who give religion such a bad rep sometimes, and not the teachings in the text. Unless your talkin bout islam. Those people are screwed up and i cant speak for them. Anyone who starts a war or oppresses their own kind in the name of some age old cryptic writings is obviously just a warmonger. So chew on it for a minute, and for fuck's sake, we all gotta live here together so chill. God or science: who gives a fuck.
