HMOs Are Evil
The American health care system is a class example of why you should not let business control the medical system. The richest country in the world should not be turning loose its sick citizens and making its young parents pay and arm and a leg to bring their child into the world.I sure as hell hope the next President has the balls to do something about it, unlike Mr. Clinton.
A hitman profits off of someone's death. HMOs profit off of the death of countless Americans every year. Why this is not considered murder? I don't care how impartial they claim to be; every single HMO executive in the U.S. deserves to rot in jail.

Translation: Sick? No money? Go fuck yourself. Curl up and die.
Nevermind those who do work hard and still get fucked out of mortgages etc. because the insurance companie come up with some bullshit excuse not to pay. They hire people for that very purpose.
I can't believe you Americans defending that disgusting system. I just can't.

<<Every time I hear about how Canada has free healthcare it makes me laugh. Don't the people that say that have any idea what Canadians pay in taxes?>>
That's because anyone who says that we have "free" healthcare is an idiot. It is not free - every single citizen of Canada pays taxes to support the system. Rather, it is "universal" - in that everyone, regardless of their income bracket, has access to the same quality of medical care as everyone else.
The attitude in the U.S. is basically: "If you don't have the money to take care of yourself, then fuck off." I find this despicable. Not everybody is as well-off as you, and they should not have to spend what little money they have for food and shelter on an x-ray for a broken leg.
Would you, as an American, support a system in which you had to pay the police to interview you after you had been mugged? Would you support a system that made you pay the fire department for putting out a fire in your house? Or one that made you pay your child's own way through school? No. Why not? Why should you pay for other people's troubles? It's your fault you got mugged; you shouldn't have been walking out so late. Right? That doesn't make any sense, does it? So, why do you turn a blind eye when a resident of a poor neighborhood dies from being unable to pay for his life-saving cancer therapy?
Whether you want to admit it or not, your system is broken. Yes, most people have the luxury of taking care of themselves. However, it is the people that DON'T that are the most important. The way those people are treated in the U.S. is absolutely reprehensible. There was a time, during the Industrial Revolution, where it was truly a "dog-eat-dog" world, and everybody took care of themselves. Well, history has shown that doesn't work. I just hope that you learn it soon as well.
