No Child Left Behind

Aaah yes. No child left behind. So lacking in any kind of forethought that the only thing these children are good for is cannon fodder. Ever get the feeling that the government is doing this deliberately?

"What's that inner city/extremely rural high school graduate? You'd like to go to college? And because your school is drastically underfunded that no real college will touch you, you want some federal help? Hmmmmmmm.......... I know!! You can join the military and we'll send you to school when your tour is done!! When does that tour end, you ask? Simple. As soon as you die. Sound good to you?"

There's a reason why those in us in the educational field refer to it as "No school left standing"...

I never liked the specifics of the legislation, particularly due to funding being pulled when there's no hope of being able to improve upon the poor scores or academics without it. This is a sad, desperate, and knee-jerk reaction to our failing educational system. Do we need reform and a thorough re-evaluation? Certainly. Is this the way to go about doing so? Absolutely not.

The government screwing people over intentionally? Knock me over with a fucking feather...

The thing about NCLB is that is really looks over more kids than it 'helps' and is a huge waste of time and resources. Focus on making the schools and teachers accountable for what they do, and I guarantee you'll see improvements very quickly.

The idea behind "No Child Left Behind" was to hobble public education even further than previous republican administrations and foster the privatized, i. E. either capitalized or christianized systems instead. The real program could be called "No Wealthy Child of any Race Left Behind in a Dumbed Down Nation. It's tragic to think of how many people actually believe thar The Bush Administration cares about America. That's not to say that the demos butter different bread. they don't. It's just a slower process under them. Don't worry. Sooner or later there will be no education for you regular folk
