I can't control what country I'm from
I'm so sick and fucking tired of people saying all Americans are fat, stupid, greedy, etc, etc.I live in America, I'm a Russian immigrant (moved when I was 6), but I've lived here for most of my life and I consider myself to be an American. I'm not fat, I'm certainly not retarded, and I don't even own a car because I'm a student in an urban area and it's not practical. I use a carsharing program when I do need to drive somewhere, and 99% of the time the cars I use are fuel-efficient hybrids, NOT gas-guzzling SUVs. I'm not religious, I don't support Bush, I don't drink 64oz sodas with my Extra Value meal from Mcdonald's, I know basic geography, I read international news as well as US news, so I"m not some fucking morbidly obese ignorant hick JUST BECAUSE I LIVE HERE. For fuck's sake! I don't go around saying all Germans are Nazis, all Brits have bad teeth, all French people have bad hygiene, so why do you make these broad generalizations about me because I happen to live in America?
Fuck off, all of you.

Because your vote, your life, your actions had supported the clay monster that America is today, simply as that.

Actually when both times Bush was elected I was too young to vote, so no, my vote didn't support anything since it wasn't legally allowed. Ignorant motherfucker.

You do live in USA. Therefore, you contribute to it`s image.
Face it - noone would say that americans are obnoxious ignorant morons, if that was not supported by numerous experiences towards such notion.
And you, right now, help to perpetrate it.
What`s the worst failure of americans? Why, sense of entitlement and infinite zest to complain when your expectations aren`t met.
Which, I should mention, is exactly what you`re doing now. Complaining that for some weird reason world does not seem to lavish you with respect just because you`re "not like them". But you are. You are simply because you do assume that those epithets are directed at you in the first place. If you weren`t, it would never occur to you, that it`s about you in the first place.

Shouldn't you say that you are a Russian Emigre? Think you'd know that being an American stupid, er student.

OP here. I'm not saying anyone should "lavish [me] with respect", I'm saying that I don't enjoy being grouped into this mass stereotype you people have of Americans because it simply doesn't apply to as many Americans as you might think. And guess what, those of us in America that actually have half a brain are just as full of hatred toward that segment of the populace as you are because we actually have to live with them. Yes, I'm complaining, because making such broad generalizations makes you as bad as the ignorant Americans you purport to hate. Hate our government all you want, I'll be the first to admit that I'm disgusted by it and, but don't hate the citizenry arbitrarily because SOME Americans are stupid douchebags.
Also, no, I'm not a Russian "Emigre." There were no socio-political ramifications to my relocation, and it's not a "self-exile" by any means. I'm an IMMIGRANT. My family IMMIGRATED--moved from one place to another--from Russia to the United States because when I was very young my dad happened to get a job here. Learn what the words you're using mean before you go calling other people stupid, cuntrag.
Also also, yes, I'm a legal citizen, and I'm actually strongly opposed to ILLEGAL immigration because my family did things by the rules and it's hardly impossible.

If you don`t behave like stereotypical american, you won`t get lumped with stereotypical americans, simple as that.
When you put the question this way, it`s merely a matter of your choice - either you are obese moronic obnoxious jerk or assume that you must be one, if you live in USA, and raise a huge stink about it, either you are secure in knowing you are not a bona fide example of said stereotype - in which case, stereotype would not bother you simply because you and everyone is well-aware that it does not pertain to you.
Every nation has lots of negative stereotypes associated with it. Real question is, weather you chose to associate YOURSELF with those stereotypes, or not.

However, dictionaries online and off all indicated that "Emigre" is someone who emigrates to another country, "especially for (but not limited to) political reasons".
Since it is not strictly limited to those self-exiles and those fleeing political persecution, I submit that you, sir, are the stupid cuntrag.

Heh.
Guys, it`s really easy.
You Emigrate from one country, and IMmigrate into another. That`s all.
Verb emigrate is used with country you are leaving, term immigrate is used with country you are arriving to.
So, OP is immigrant for you yankees, and emigrant for me. Whichever he is for himself is defined only by the level of his ego bloating.
