Foriegn Language

I really see the benefit of learning a foriegn language. It's so that I can understand those bastards that refuse to learn ENGLISH in AMERICA, an ENTIRE COUNTRY that SPEAKS ENLGISH!!!

But really now. I want to learn a foriengn language, but not in college for credit, damnit! How is anyone suppossed to learn a completely different language with that fucking kind of pressure? Some people walk into a 101 introductory course for a language, and the college expects you to speak it in class from day one... Literally!!! I mean, what the fuck is wrong with this picture? What if someone has no experiance with anotehr language? Granted, I have SOME experiance with Spanish, but come the fuck on! Speak it from day one??? Why don't you ask me to give myself a blowjob whil your at it...

People use "damnit" too much on this site.

And there is so much wrong with talking about learning another language when your spelling in english is that bad.

Yall's minds are so small and you're going to get left behind.

Am I the only one who thinks it's fun to learn a foreign language? Or is it more fun to set the standards for your intelligence SO low, that you are done learning once you leave high school?

I taught myself Chinese and can converse in Chinese with people at Chinese restaurants. Every time I do, everyone is hella impressed and so are the girls at the restaurant.. And some of them are very, very hot..(not very often though).

    You sound pretty boring OP.

I love foreign languages, I'm learning my fourth right now. They're wonderfully helpful if you travel.

Right now you may be in America where everyone is supposed to speak English, but what if you travel to Germany or another place? Will you expect them to accommodate you by speaking English instead of the native language?

You probably would, but that would be idiotic.

Ya ya ya I realize that. But do YOU even think about how America even started? This is a fucking melting pot, not a boring English only gated community.

    It's not really that difficult.

All you need to learn to get by is "One hot dog", "Beer me", and "Please don't shoot me I did not touch your woman".

#7, america started with english speaking settlers , don't confuse the founders with the immigrants....

Yes, but our ancestors from Europe did not all speak English. That's the melting pot I am referring to. We are just like today's immigrants. We can't forget we were once that.

^ not quite. Our ancestors entered the US legally, and tried their best to learn the language and otherwise assimilate into American culture. Unlike today's southern border rats.

My wife and I speak 6 languages between us and STILL feel we need a national language. What ever it may be, make it ONE language and get it over with.

In the current tough economic times we should have a national language if for no other reason than to just cut cost and simplify business and government.

Too bad it's a partisan issue and our ever-ineffective gov't would rather do anything than cut costs.
